Bannerlord Creative Competition

Greetings warriors of Calradia!

More than a year ago, we announced our first official creative competition where nearly 100 participants battled on three separate fields: the creation of lively and scenic villages, the making of Bannerlord themed 2D art and the taking of astonishing in-game screenshots. We were both surprised and amazed by the quick adoption of our extensive modding kit, as well as the creativity, skill and ingenuity of competition participants.

We assisted the participants by providing guides, documentation and by answering questions on our forums and the community Mount & Blade Modding Discord. Not only did participants reach a high level of quality in their submissions, they also collaborated and helped each other which was great to see!

We want to continue with our support of the talented community that has gathered around our games which is why we’re very excited to be announcing our second iteration of the Bannerlord Creative Competition with a hefty bag of prizes! We would really like to thank our friends at Intel for joining us again to lend their support with 2x Intel® NUC 9 Extreme Kit and 2x Intel® Core™ i5-12600K Processors up for grabs!

Bannerlord Creative Competition

Scene Design Contest - Hideouts

While villages remain a place for hardworking farmers and fishermen, the same can not be said for hideouts. These provide a sanctuary for thieving bandits and marauders who hide in them, away from the hand of justice. Contest participants will need to envision and create these hideouts with the help of our Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord Modding Kit. We have prepared the Scene Design Contest thread that contains details about the contest, guides on how to create hideouts and test them in-game, how to submit the scenes and more. When the contest finishes and the results are published, all of the scenes will be released to the public, making them available for inclusion in various Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord modifications.

Scene Design Contest Prizes:

3D Art Contest - Melee Weapons Set

Experienced smithies will know that each weapon in Bannerlord is composed of multiple crafting pieces across a number of categories, allowing for the creation of hundreds of thousands of different weapons. 3D art contest participants are invited to take a shot at creating a Calradian royal melee weapon set, worthy of being used in battle by the highest of nobles and implement it into the game so that it fits with the native crafting pieces and works with the crafting system. We realize this might sound like quite a challenge which is why we’ve created documentation about our crafting system, how to implement the crafting pieces into the game, how to send in your submission and more - all of which can be found in the 3D Art Contest thread.

3D Art Contest Prizes:

Spear blade

2D Art Contest - Comic

Finally, we have the 2D Art Contest, challenging participants to create a comic consisting of no more than 6 panels set in Dark Ages Calradia. The use of all types of mediums is allowed to create the comic, such as screenshots, hand drawn, 2D & 3D digital art, and photo editing/manipulation. There's plenty of room to show off your creativity and skill so give it a go! You can find all the rules and further instructions in the 2D Art Contest post.

2D Art Contest Prizes:

Bannerlord Creative Competition 1

Entries for each contest are open from now up until the 31st of July 2022, 23:59 UTC+3.

Make sure to check out the FAQ if you would like to find more information about how you can get involved. We look forward to seeing what you all come up with and wish you the best of luck!

Another comment, I'd like to suggest for any future mod makers....in the English Civil War mod for With Fire and Sword, theres a feature ive never seen before from any mod. You can raise your own "personal" regiment troops, pikemen and musketeers, and then equip them entirely as you see fit, including with advanced weapons and armour. Its really fun and interesting, I literally have never seen that before in another mod

I feel like that would be a great idea in certain mods, and I would assume it could be modified to be more balanced if theres any fear of balance issues(I havent noticed such in ECW). I could see it being that the Personal Regiment troops would be limited in number, or you can only change their armour or weapons within a certain range

But its just a great idea, and honestly I could see it fitting into most mods. In a medieval real life or a Calradian native or warband situation, it could be how you create your own mercenary regiment thats your own

The future is bright!

I know it's late, but I'm happy reading this comment! I know of a mod who uses this extremely well! It isn't available here, but you can find it on Nexus!

You need to check out, "Aut Caesar Aut Nihil" for Warband! It's set in the time of Nero's reign, and has this option, incredible custom quests, historic and narrative events and scenes that feel almost like, "Sleep no More". All of Europe and parts of Asia and Africa. Unique period accurate factions, religions and associated quests, and equipment. Better everything frankly! If Imperial Rome interests you, it's a lock. If it doesn't, it'll still likely be the best mod that you've ever played, and you'll likely have a better appreciation for the period!

Hey, random mod suggestion for anyone wanting to take it up.... I'd love to see a 14th and 15th century mod. Ive recently been reading a lot about the Hundred Years War, and it seems like a visually great time, where many knights had those giant crests on their helms, and bright surcoats were popular. Also gunpowder was starting to become commonplace with early cannons and handguns, pike tactics were rediscovered, so forth so on.

A mod taking place in the 1400s would have a lot of opportunity for different wars, different game mechanics, and splendid looking stuff for whoever can make it

The 16th and 17th century would be good too, but I remember a strange lack of mods taking place in the 1300s and 1400s for Warband. There was just 1257 Anno Domini for a grand medieval period mod

Depends on what you mean by mostly fantasy. I dont mean everyone was wearing them or anything, just thats the time they were worn at least ceremonially, and thus would be great fun in a mod since...we can just do whatever with whats given to us in these games. Why 1400s?

The 1400s would give opportunity for different weapons, armour, and FIREARMS as compared to the 1300s, and personally I think its just a completely ignored time

In regards to the Hundred Years War, its when the big stuff started really happening, Henry V conquered much of France, and then began the counter-offensive with Joan D'Arc, and then the final retaking of Normandy. The earlier time in the Hundred Years War was just as exciting, but obviously not as climatic
