In the history of video games, the eighth generation is a term to describe the next iteration of video game consoles that are expected to follow the current seventh generation: Microsoft's Xbox 360, Sony's PlayStation 3, and Nintendo's Wii. It also describes handheld game units released in the similar timeframe. The Nintendo 3DS was released on March 27, 2011 and Sony's PlayStation Vita was released on February 22, 2012 in North America.

wow so nearly no asian country ? how can microsoft afford this it seems more and more that the xboxone will fail i hope not because they had some awesome ideas that would've brought gaming some new fresh wind

But to answer your question, not enough people in Asia play XBox. Several campaigns in both Japan and China failed with both the XBox and the 360, so I don't blame them for not even trying this time around.

Funny, they give Mexicans priority over other countries that have far more prevalent gaming roots. And you know, places like India with a population of only a billion people.
