An Initiative to Learn

We are a small group of developers and artists who are looking to improve our skills in game development. We are working under the tutelage of more senior Game Developers but everything we do is self-generated. Our goal is to create a simple game from start to finish in a year not to get rich, but to grow as developers in the industry. Each member is allowed to get involved with as much or as little of the entire breadth of the game development process. Whatever you want to improve on — whether it's enhancing your coding abilities, gaining an understanding of managing a project and direction, increasing your technical art abilities by getting involved in the art workflow — you will find plenty of opportunity here.

Who Should Apply?

This is an unpaid, volunteer position available only for select candidates who demonstrate the talent potential and most importantly the determination and grit we are looking for in fellow team members. We will be developing the game with Unreal Engine. If any of the games we develop get published, proceeds will be distributed amongst the members of the team based on their contribution.

We just started and have selected the first few candidates so far. We are still looking for people to fill virtually all game development roles, including but not limited to:

  • Project Management / Production
  • Game Design
  • UE4 development / programming
  • Web / server development
  • Concept Art
  • 3D Art / Animation / Rigging
  • Audio / SFX
  • Marketing / Outreach / Social Media

To Apply

To apply, send an email to gamedeveloperinstitute@gmail.com with a description of why you want to be involved in this opportunity. Portfolios/code samples are also strongly encouraged. Extensive previous work experience or education is not required, but a resume detailing any such things would only help your application.
