A big announcement comes from HTC during a conference in Beijing yesterday. The company unveiled "Vive X: The Global VR Accelerator", a program which will contribute $100 million in funding to developers and startups working to create VR software for the HTC Vive. Says HTC on its Vive X application site:

"Our mission is simple: We want to help cultivate, foster and grow the global VR ecosystem by supporting startups and providing them with education, investment and mentorship."

That education and mentorship includes access to "top VCs" and "thought leaders" in the VR space. Included in the Vive X "alliance" are companies such as Valve, Warner Bros, Disney, Lionsgate, NVIDIA, AMD, Epic, Ubisoft, and more. As VRFocus reports, the program will also include "base-level administration, such as accounting, finance, HR and legal advice, in order to allow developers to concentrate on what they do best: creating unique VR experiences."

Currently, three locations are available for the accelerator program: Beijing, Taipei, and San Francisco. The first Vive X location will launch in May, and HTC is seeking to bring the program to other cities sometime in the future.
