Frostbite 3

|

In development since 2011, Frostbite 3 is an improvement of Frostbite 2 and will debut with Battlefield 4 in 2013. It only supports DirectX 11 on PCs. It also features in-game destruction with Destruction 4.0 which upgraded from Destruction 3.0, and it features an entirely new tessellation technology. Frostbite 3 is described by DICE as an upgraded version of its existing Frostbite 2 engine, designed to create a "dynamic, human and believable experience" and allow for improved animations, destruction and AI.

Hey everyone, I just dumped Frostbite for another, even better engine. Go download CryEngine 3's SDK. It is just as impressive as Frostbite 3, if not even more so. And it is free for non-commercial use.

What is so special about Frostbite, DICE? It has nothing. CryEngine also has destruction, but I don't hear the CryDev team calling us stupid and claiming that we can't use the engine.

Humanity has reached a stage in technological evolution that gamers can collaborate together and make the games everyone would love. We don't need a bunch of greedy ***** like EA and DICE to make our games. Indie game are on the rise, more than ever.

Hey DICE want to make your games last up to 10-20 years? give us mod support.

See, that's the problem. They want their games to die quickly so we just gobble up anything else they throw at us.

That's right and at full price, they could never sell a 10 or 20 years old game at 60€.

Dice, I hope you have a darn good reason for betraying us in favor of EA. I guess you do. Money.

PFC Jason, we don't need their mod tools. Go get yourself a free copy of CryEngine 3 SDK. It's just as good as Frostbite 3, and very user-friendly.
