How will a stand alone engine help with modding?
People won't need to own a copy of UT3 to play UT3 mods anymore. They can download it as stand alone. Thus people have fewer reason to not play a mod, resulting in higher popularity.
it wont be a mod though, it will be a stand alone game...
I mean I have a started UT3 mod I can move to a stand alone game

My download keeps crashing.
Mine doesn't crash but I get terribly slow speed like 9 kb/s. even from the other mirror for epic site.Its like being back on dial up.
I plan to leave my pc on all night to get it.
If you still cant get it download by tomorrow pm and I will .rar it and upload to send space for you if you want.

Turns out the Nvidia link was bad, and the download wasn't running either.
I got a good 4mb/s, and it installed painlessly (The third time).
Least you got it painless, now i cant seem to get a stable DL rate above taking 2 1/2 hours or more...time to actually beat the HL series >.>

Micro$oft? Rather every other dev out there... it'd hard time for them, unless each of them will be going for own "better" engines... well, curious to know if we'll see some boom of games run on U-engine. ;-D

I downloaded UDK for unreal tournament 3 offcuass and it comes up with this error when i try and install it.. The UDK package is corrupt, please redownload (Exception when opening zip)... soo what do i do? i re-download it to find it will give me this error agien? or is there something else?
I tried to install UDK but it crashes in the middle of installation at random intervals...
Admin, and compatibility is set on the other tries but got frustrated after 3-4 times and deleted the thing...
It's still a beta so i'll wait for a better version...
Same goes for me, I have Vista x64 SP2 and UAC disabled.
It always crashes at PhysX.dll or something like that :/
(I also have net.framework 3.5)
Odd do you have the latest .net framework 3.5 sp 1 I think is needed. I had to download it first but it works now.
guys i need help.. mine dosen't work.. i turn on Editor - unreal development kit and it keeps crashing the hole pc.. the mouse pointer stops working..

ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB ded
I've had this since yesterday, Windows Vista Home Premium x64, 6 GB RAM, AMD Athlon X2 7750, ATI Radeon HD 3200 (Shh, I know), and it works flawlessly.
So... uh... No idea what's the issue with y'all. Check and see if updates are available.

I don't know how difficult it is to use, but sometimes it's best to just jump right in and not diddle around with simple stuff that you will never use again.
I hope it's beginners friendly cause otherwise I'm doing this for nothing.

What exactly does the commercial license entail for those of us who want to create games with the UDK, but distribute them without charge?
$99 or if ur living in the UK the exchange rate is 1.5 dollars to 1 pound.
Hmm, now if it had the ability to make games for Linux users, I'd be more impressed. This is pretty full of awesome and win though!
If you owned Unreal Tournement you already had it in the \system folder as an .EXE you simply had to click it to install.
It's NOT too complex to use and any idiot with half a brain can get something sorted with it, the funny thing is this is what spawned 'Killing Floor' so it certainly has it's uses depending of course how you view Killing Floor I guess.
You can import lots of textures and stuff from other games and of course you can download them too from legitimate sources online including the Unreal site, they even have a whole forum dedicated to it and so on.
Interesting is also that talk of being a game dev and how to become one using this as a base-line, it's best to take a look at their site and this one of course to get some stuff to use, there are also 'how to' guides online both as simple websites and even Youtube has loads of vid's teaching how to use it.
