i know what you mean, i have always seen mine-craft as a retro survival game and i enjoy the maps like sky-block and survival island, but i can also see how map makers would like it
Personally I think this would probably do better as a mod. As Kizzycocoa says, it's just not in the spirit (?) of the original vanilla Minecraft. It started as a building game with 8-bit references, then the survival was added, but this seems to go a little far. Maybe release an official Mojang Map Dev Mod?
the Command Block would be a good idea.
I mean have it as a type of reward block after you kill a boss or clear a dungeon[not the square one] and then have it code in to destroy itself after it's given the reward to the player. Just an idea.
I don't see why you would call it "not minecraft spirit", because you cannot use anything else that the normal commands anyways. You basically say that Admins & OP's on servers are "not minecraft" aswell?
However, back to my point, Don't complain about it not being minecraftstyle, as it is for map makers ONLY! You wouldn't necessarily ever need to use this block yourself.
But for us mapmakers this block is like heaven, it gives us the opportunity to make more in-depth Adventuremaps.
Mojang works with minecraft to keep people intrested, and to do this they need help from the community itself, this block was added so mapmakers could give the players more intresting maps.
idk about you guys, but this doesn't feel Minecrafty to me. It feels out of place.
I guess, for map makers, it's a dream. but it's just....idk. odd.

i dont really play adventure maps but its a cool thing for those who make/play them.
I can see how this would be useful.

You do know those are programmer graphics?
This isn't even craftable and it helps a LOT in map making. I think it's a good addition to the game

lame. i wish adventure mode would randomly generate an elder scrolls style map with tons of optional quests.
