I recently realized I have been working on PlanTechtor for 2 years! Here is a quick glimpse at what has changed.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 2 years that I have been working on PlanTechtor. This realization made me want to dig up some of the first versions and do a side by side. So, here it is. The top image is a little shooting gallery that I spent a lot of time in. I would work on the weapons trying to get them to feel just right. The bottom image is the game after exactly 2 years. Things are even farther along now! A lot has changed, but, as you can see, the core mechanics and systems have pretty much remained intact. I credit that to lots of early play testing and focus testing.

2 years difference

** I say 2 years, but I was working on PlanTechtor only part time for those 2 years. I still had my day job and so I only worked on PlanTechtor on Saturdays, Sundays, and some weekday evenings. I keep track of my hours worked though, and I logged 1,862 hours; which is almost 1 year of a full time schedule. So, have I really worked on PlanTechtor for 1 year or 2 years?

** You will notice the bow and pistol in the top screen shot appear to not have changed in 2 years. That isn’t actually the case. Sadly, I was unable to dig up those old assets and so the top screenshot has new assets in it.
