Important compatibility notes
The 64-bit version of the game may not launch on some systems with Windows 10 and Windows 11. In this case, please use the 32-bit executable (there's a desktop shortcut for it). Make sure you have the Visual Studio Redistributables installed on your computer. You can download Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes All-in-One package from here.

Thank you for being with us for so many years.
Yay! I'm so excited!
Unfortunately, the demo does not work for me :(
It freezes in the introductory picture.
Unfortunately this can happen sometimes on the newer Windows versions. The engine is quite outdated. But we created compatibility shortcuts in this case. Did you try to launch in DX9 mode, as advised in Readme file? Also, make sure that you installed the latest DirectX versions and latest Visual C++ Redistributables, from readme links. What is your specs, Windows version and edition? Try to launch it again, in DX9 mode.
I tried all 4 shortcuts (64-bit, 32-bit, DX9 64-bit, DX9 32-bit). Every time I start em I get the same result.
My specs are: i5-3470, 12 Gb RAM, GeForce GTX 670, Windows 10 64-bit (10.0, build 14393).
Also lots of VC++ Redistributables (from 2005 to 2015) are already instaled.
Does it crash with en error message? Maybe it's a broken installer file. Try to redownload and reinstall the game again.
eh?
Well, I played this cute modification and I want some more. I liked the the dialog system and voice acting as well as overall look of the world and the plot. Of course the AI is a mess right now but still you can shoot at enemies and try some funny moves on them. Are you planning to expand this mod? Or is it already dead?
Did you play the staldalone game from this release, or do you mean the old Crysis modification "Open Outcast Demo"? As far as I know, further development was cancelled, because IP owners of Second Contact tried to put a damper on it. Appeal has even stopped LotY team from releasing LotY demo via Steam Greenlight, because they didn't want any competition between community-driven sequel LotY and their official so-called "remake" Second Contact.
Thanks for your reply!
I played standalone game LotY. That's really sad because I think this project has a potential in order to become a good game in the future.
Yeh but if Outcast: Second Contact does well i think they want to go on and make Outcast 2.
So i think that's why they might have a problem with this.
I'm sure the devs like this as much as the fans but i can understand why they'd want to put a damper on this.
There's obviously talented people working on this demo.
In a perfect world they would join forces :)
Yeah, I was hoping for joining forces. That's an approach that Valve usually does, and it wins them millions of dollars in profit. We can continue making this if Appeal allows us to work and be featured on their media and be released on Steam. They will have benefits from this. Otherwise the team was so much disappointed that we decided to stop any further development. We felt pwned.
Damn, I answered as a guest! :(
strange ,on Moddb the title says:
New incredible Crysis modification "Jumper and the City" (2009) by the "GamesForLiberty" team.
Games : Crysis : Mods : JUMPER AND THE CITY : Files
Filename
LotY_Installer.exe
-----------------------------------------------------
Page is split between two different cry mods
Indiedb is ok though.
Won't start for me i just get "cryengine has stopped working".
And the readme.rtf file doesn't offer any shortcuts to try.
One page is about the game and the other is hardware requirements + "make sure you have blah blah redists installed"
I have redists installed and an AMD RX560 4GB card ,intel cpu ,win8.1.
I'm quite thorough about redists and have all installed including less well known ones .
EDIT:
I just noticed the 4 shortcuts that have been placed on my desktop.
Only saw them later after closing my browser.
i tried them and they say in a box something about "cannot work offline" and then the game window hangs.
Please, delete the Crytek branch from the registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Crytek). Then try starting using the DX9 shortcut. If that doesn't help, try restarting on 64-bit Windows using a normal shortcut. Windows 7 64-bit is highly recommended. Thank you, and sorry for any inconvenience - the CryEngine 3 version by Crytek that was available for us, poor indie devs, was very unstable and limited.
I don't have that reg key.
It might be because i'm on win8.1 ,this OS does cause issues with some games .
I'll try again when i've installed win7 ,i will probably have more luck.
Thanks for the tips .
I played opencast tech demo before ,i still have it on dvd somewhere .
I've never had a chance to test it on 8.1, but it works well on Windows 10. If you have an option to install Win10, it should work. Just the launch screen will be small, the rest of the things will work in a normal way.
