This article looks at the game's recent progress, exhibiting at local events, and it's development focus into the future.
EXHIBITING AT LOCAL EVENTS
The Icebox development has continued steadily over the past few months. A recent demo was exhibited to players at AVCon in Adelaide, Australia in July and as part of the Indie Booth at the Mario Kart ESports Event in August. The demo received great feedback from players and fellow developers and is maturing well as each iteration of development continues.
PLAYTESTING & FEEDBACK
Feedback from players and developers at recent events and private demos has highlighted the speedrunning components as a key feature of the game. Henceforth, future iterations will prioritise this aspect and ensure the player's experience is always rewarded for completing levels and objectives quickly. But players must not only be fast through levels. They must also manage Health and Technitium (resource) to top the leaderboards. So the best players will register fast times, maintain high health and be efficient with resources. These together contribute to the player's overall score and standing on the leaderboards.
Another important element is providing visual feedback, from highlighted pickups, interactable elements and enemy hit indicators. These elements are now becoming an important focus for later iterations of the development as the rest of the game and gameplay matures.
