News - Frontier
It's certainly been a while since our last news post, and in that time we have made some major improvements and changes to Frontier! The battle system has still remained our main focus, allowing us to concentrate on mechanics and quality - in short to make the game fun, nice to look at and easy to interact with.
On the gameplay side, we have bought a tighter more focused feel, with ships being now closer together and nearer each other in size. We've also done a lot of work on the pacing of combat and how skills and attacks take place; we will post more on the exact mechanics later but roles are now more classed based and this fits in nicely with what we have planned for the campaign.
Our work on the UI has tied in closely with the mechanics changes that have been made, as we have improved the presentation of info eg. player health and status - so that it is easier to keep track of how you are doing in a battle and simple to use.
Graphics are something that we are always trying to push forward and our latest changes have been the most significant that we have made as we have moved towards an IBL system. We've also added a whole host of new effects and changed a lot of our existing ones. Again the changes should make it a lot easier to see what is happening as well as making the game more vibrant and interesting to look at! The areas between battles also now features direct point-and-click style ship control that with NPC groups roaming around for you to fight.
Next up is expanding the trading and empire system to allow you to buy and equip fleets and setup networks of industry throughout the game world!

wow that looks great!
Thanks man :D
I really like the improvement but I think the explosions after being hit by a weapon are too big. But anyways it looks awesome
Looks nice!
The battles resemble Capcom JRPGs.
lovely
I want it! ASAP :D
is this an online game
Any idea when you'll be looking for testers? Have you considered using Steam? I'd Greenlight this game immediately! :)
Are you considering offering pre-orders with early access? I'm excited about this game - it looks really impressive! I'd love a space game like Freelancer that permits trade. <3
