Finally, after 20 years the original campaign as been developed, it is now available to play with The Protectors! Check how to install inside. Made by Zeto 2015-2019.
This installation replaces (in 0.8.8b version):
Companions: Grimnir with Aelfwine and Turim with Minos
Custom Chapters: The Duernothian Cult with The Tears of Dawn
Inside "TEARS OF DAWN" folder you have:
HeroDataCustomChapters.xcr
and 4 folders:
Assets (has 2 more folders: Data and Sides)

0. Download and install The Protectors mod version 0.8.8, patch b (also requires patch a)
1. Back up any files you are about to replace (if you need/want to)
2. Copy-paste "HeroDataCustomChapters.xcr" to your main TPC folder (Drive>>TheProtectors)
3. Copy-paste the content of video folder to Drive>>TheProtectors>>Video
4. Copy-paste the content of English folder to Drive>>TheProtectors>>English
5. Copy-paste the content of CustomCampaignScenario folder to Drive>>TheProtectors>>CustomCampaignScenario
6. Copy-paste the content of Assets>>Data folder to Drive>>TheProtectors>>Assets>>Data
7. Copy-paste the content of Assets>>Sides folder to Drive>>TheProtectors>>Assets>>Sides
8. Open the game in compatibility mode (right click on the .exe, go to properties and check windows xp sp3, for instance)
9. Go to Single player and then C. Chapter (Custom Chapter menu). Reset the chapter
10. Play it!
a) Ferries aren´t working yet in this TPC version. Naval maps cannot be finished in this version. Use cheat "iamawinner" to proceed (2 maps in evil path and 2 maps in light path)
b) PlayWAV NIS command only applies to world map in this TPC version. For now you can only read the text, but not listen to the audio files (Fixed in 0.8.9)
Extra implementations and bug fixes:
Redone the original campaign song, played at the start of each battle
Added Special Heroes accordingly to the original campaign (Brakkas, Kingsley, etc.)
Added in-game subtitles following audio files, allowing tranlations
Manually remade Scenarios and features' position accordingly to the original campaign
Looted items added in some maps. All item chests are placed as in the original campaing, but some chests are just features
Naturalized tile transitions
Remade events accordingly to the original campaign
Created extra LOC files with no shops and no mercenaries: Guardia, Esgaard Tower, Duskside, Straights of Darkness, orcport, Darkwall Mountains, King's Bridge and Palmyr
Created extra LOC files with shops and mercenaries only: Arcadia and Gildor
Remade the Darkness/Light Path (there is no simultaneous 2 way path, as in the original campaign)
Fixed bug in "The Red Maw" mission, where player could win avoiding the intended path
Companions are placed with the editor in order to work out events better. They will gain experience.
Fixed bugs in various Maps having neutral buildings destroyed by the AI. They now give extra troops for the player
Races to be played are fixed as in the original campaign
Fixed a bug on the "guardians of the seer" and "minotaurs tribe" maps, not playing the audio file correctly when the hero reaches the red tear
Applied many NIS commands to allow a better understanding of the story
Fixed a bug on the "guardians of the seer" and "minotaurs tribe" maps, not ending victorious after finding the Seer's cave or winning before reaching it
Fixed a bug on the "orb of souls" map ending victorious before finding Kaari
Increased dificulty on the "Undead Patrol" map
Fixed one Minos' event never happening in "Rescuing Elana"
Added in-game hints, map description, tips and journal
Highly increased dificulty on the "Battle of Dusk" map
Fixed a gibbet position in the "Battle of Dusk" map, standing in an unrealistic place
Enlarged the "Attack on Guardia" map (originaly was 192x192)
Used an Harpy lair spawning troops instead of a nest level 2 for the passive orc black clan, in the "Temple of Ymorgia" map
Fixed a bug on the "Siege of Guardia" map, where the undead faction would attack Clay guardians within their own base
AI heroes are fixed according to race except special ones. heroes are likely to be harderd to destroy than the original campaign.
Units in hidden places, found with the hero, now also unlock extra units for the enemy
"Rescuing Elana" map: orc ambushes arrive from unpredictable places
Fixed bug Where Aelfwine could die in "Aelfwine" map, while the main goal is precisely to secure him
The "Blue shard" map now releases dread knights to the enemy if the hero reaches the cathedral
Fixed bug in "The Library" and the "Undead Culumn" maps not playing some units' audio files after an event, as intended
Fixed bug in "The Library" having a shipyard and an island to land on, with items, but having also no way to build ferries
Increased dificulty on the "Undead Column" map
Enlarged "Scouting the land" map
Added fancy guards to follow paridian in his way out on the "Undead Column" map
Added Towers for the Dwarven Clan in the "Orc Ambush" map
Initial towers, in their original places, are special towers by default
Increased dificulty on the "Treachery" map
Added Towers, extra units and rampart for the AI in all Chapter 4 Darkness Path maps
In the "Battle of Dusk" map, the Graveyard location is now revealed
Adapted initial ASP for the player and the AI
Placed resource wagons as in the original campaign
The Tears of Dawn remake for the protectors mod works as a custom chapter with a fixed warrior hero level 4 (Sir Baruch V)
Added in-game choices for some maps where the player can have some help, if he wishes to, in form of researches or buildings
Created bonuses corresponding to the original Human WBC1 skills + shards
Fixed bug where Kaari would start with half HP in the final battle of the light path ("Siege of Yrm")
improved interactivity in most naval maps (bigger islands, straight paths - all to account for boat range-attack in TPC)
Fixed a bug in "Dark Straits" map having tons of wealth in form of resource weagons to spend but no building allowed to do so
Fixed a voice action for setroth belonging to the wrong chapter
Removed annoying starting towers on "Raid on Yrm" and "The Siege of Yrm" maps attacking your own base
Added fancy Elementals (including dust devils, aka Sand Elementals) to be purchased in solhaven
Removed thunderbolts from the "Undead patrol" map killing your hero
Added soundfx in most maps
Esgaard, Guardia, Archanon and Yrm Towers as well as some more special features-buildings are always visible
Actually added reinforcements after 30 min in "rescuing Elana" map. Game ends 1 minute after
On "The Library" map towers no longer belong to the human player. Also, one of the AI heroes is no longer upon the library

Is this still compatible with 0.8.9? I barely remember the first WBC, can't believe how long it's been...

Latest versions come with this already installed. Play it via singleplayer->custom chapters->Tears of Dawn
