Features for returning players
- A comprehensive overhaul of all of the character and weapon artwork in the game; all enemies originally sourced from other Build engine games including Duke Nukem 3D now have original artwork. Weapons have received an overhaul, including smoother interpolation.
- Huge overhaul of audio - similar to artwork, a huge portion of the soundwork has been replaced with original work, either from credited sources from Freesound.org or from sound packs with additional work on our part. There's also now a simple reverb system for guns that will really enhance the atmosphere and visceral feeling of firefights.
- Updated Music - alongside some original tracks, music has again received an overhaul in many places.
- Brand new game options menu - settings originally contained outside the game can now be modified inside the menu options; check them out.
- Photosensitivity option - this option removes many flashing textures and light; please still play with caution if you are sensitive to flashing lights however, if you have any feedback or spot any troublesome spots please don't hesitate to let us know.
- Additional FMVs as you progress through the campaign
- New vocal performances - Highwire has received a complete recast by the talented Steb; Axon is revoiced by Dan Gaskil, who voiced Axon originally in WGRealms; and Trenton Solari is now voiced by Thanatos (with thanks to .Mark and Brandon C Hovey for originally providing voices for Trenton and Axon respectively) As per usual there's new voiceovers for other characters as well - and last but by no means least, AliCatGamer voices Jane Ashford, who is finally playable in this release. Ali has also done hard work improving and managing the voice actors for AMC squad in general.
- Additional tutorials - The first level of the game, Megabase, has a tutorial built into it now that explains many of AMC Squad's new mechanics. Additionally, when starting episode 1 for the first time, you'll received a short introduction to the AMC base by Epsilon (voiced by Bobby Davidson)
- New content - for returning players, there's several new maps to check out. Most notable is Caligula Station, based on a map kindly donated by Mr. Sinister; this is available after beating Choasphere in episode 3. You play as elite EDF agent Jane Ashford, and once beaten she will be available to play in AMC Squad's other levels afterwoods. Doom Disco has been replaced with a brand new proper level called Scarlett Hollow, based on work donated kindly by Mike Norvak. There's also 2 Christmas only levels to check out - for the duration of December, check out Highwire's Driving Home for Christmas and my Wonderful Christmas Time levels.
- New side content - AMC squad gets its very own museum in Garmid - once you've unlocked this hub map in episode 3, head to the museum and check everything out. New LA has also received extensive work by Rhaisher, as well as a brand new shop to check out
- New collectibles - hidden around many of the levels are AMC Chibis - build up a collection around the AMC mission terminal! If you've unlocked the Precog research, you can check the tab to see if a mission has a chibi in it. There's also a few new weapons to find as well, including finally one for Snowfall.
- New Per-map art - using a relatively new engine feature of Eduke32, many maps have customised artwork and enemies specifically for that level, bringing even more variety to the AMC experience.
- Hundreds of bugs fixed - the quest to fix bugs is never ending but thanks to Sang and Doom64hunter's hard work, this should be the cleanest release yet.
Information before playing
As of Version 3.9 and up, the AMC Squad uses a modified EDuke32 engine, which makes a number of changes that could not be implemented through CON scripts easily, or at all. It also prevents certain crashes that occur due to the large number of art tiles that are used in the game.
EDuke32 and Build are licensed under GPL 2.0 and the BUILD license, which we have included in this download.
- The recommended renderer to play in is Polymost/OpenGL. A few features will not work in Classic/Software such as FMVs, but it will still be playable.
- If it's your first time, start with 'The Men who were AMC' and play on Normal difficulty. The higher skill levels introduce new mechanics that you will be unprepared for, and underequipped to deal with. In the AMC base lobby you can talk to the receptionist to take an optional training course that's highly recommended. If it's NOT your first time and you would like to carry your progress from previous episodes, run the data import tool included in the package.
- Head into the key binds setting and ensure you have keys bound; AMC Squad is designed for mouse + keyboard, and it's recommend to have alt-fire bound to your right mouse button, with reload/tertiary as your middle mouse button.
- AMC's inventory system is different from other BUILD engine games; press the Inventory key to open up a wheel, and then scroll with the mouse key to move around it. You can change this back to the standard left/right system in the options menu.
- The game options menu gives you some options that may potentially improve performance.
- All your progress in the AMC Squad is saved; beating a level is permanent and when you start a new game on a higher skill level, you retain everything you've researched and purchased (with the sole exception of weapon upgrades, which are handled on a case to case basis)
- Finally, when visiting the AMC base right click on a character's portrait to be taken straight to the underground base rather than their room. If you wish to change characters when there, head into the base' briefing room. The mission interface has multiple levels; you can zoom out with a right-click.
Computer Specs
The AMC Squad pushes Eduke32 and Build to the very limits; you will need a much more powerful computer than the original games to run at a stable framerate; 2GBs of RAM and an i5 at the very least is recommended as well. If you're having framerate issues, try lowering the resolution.
Known Issues:
- There is a significant startup overhead in OpenGL mode, so if the game doesn't launch immediately, wait a few seconds and it will pop up. This should not affect ingame performance.
Awesome! Downloading ASAP! 😺
This is great,Downloading.
You just made my Christmas!
I am liking The complete overhaul of all enemy and weapons design. But i faced couple of issues.
1. Lizard Captain(the one that teleports) vanish after teleporting. It does not come back again to fight.sometimes they do come back to fight, but most of the time they dont come back.
2. I researched a plasma gun after completing 1st stage with 2k money. Then i load a previous save before researching and find out my money is gone and plasma gun is already researched.i am guessing if i research something,it cant be undone even if i start from an early save?
3. Do i get less money for completing mission in expert mode?I only got 2k from 1st mission.does playing easy mode gives more money?
4. How do you play as Jane and kagura?
5. There is a locked door inside a building in 1st level. Its where you get the sniper rifle and VR terminal.how do you open it?
6. does sangas bat do anything? It just fly around him and obstruct his view,it would be cool if we could disable it.
1. Lizard Captain is an old issue that still needs resolving -- eventually we are going to implement a failsafe so that it is forced to return onto the map.
2. Yes, research is stored independently of savegames. This is necessary to ensure that starting a game in the next episode keeps all your progress. Currently you cannot revert of refund different research -- this may be subject to change for future versions.
3. Higher difficulties should give you more money, but the more loadout you take with you on missions, the less reward you get.
4. Jane is unlocked towards the end of E3, after playing the "Caligula Station" mission. Kagura is not available in this version (that will come with E4).
5. That door is decorative, don't worry about it.
6. It will leave eventually. (but we might also add a gameplay option, it depends)
I am unable to find most of the EDF missions from the previous versions. Ive already unlocked them by talking to the commander in New LA but i can see only a very small few at the most on the world map. Were they removed?
Checking the previous version, many EDF missions are now no longer present in game. There are only 11 on Earth in this latest update but the previous one (before 10th ani) has 31
Heres a comparison between the two US maps with EDF missions
Media.moddb.com
Yes, many of them were removed
I really hope this isnt the case and is just some bug preventing most of the EDF missions from showing up
It's not a bug. Many of them were removed for a few reasons. Mostly because in the past a lot of bug reports pertained to those EDF maps and our dev team is just too small to keep retesting and fixing stuff whenever we test a new codebase.
If we had a larger team we could have kept those in but sadly we don't and we'd rather focus as much as possible on the "main game" so to speak.
Fair enough man.
if you have the old copy of AMC TC you can still play them, just not via the command interface - you can launch them via the usermap menu.
As Sang said, many of them didn't meet our general quality standards and we'd rather focus on a small selection rather than the previous approach of everything and the kitchen sink.
We're also hoping that we'll get more usermaps, there's already been a few released on the AMC Discord.
Alright well. Thats a fair enough comprimise for the time being. I can still enjoy them just not as snazzy a method. Thanks for the honesty gentlemen. I appreciate it
Just wasnt sure in the beginning if them missing was a bug or not

Note that some of them also get unlocked gradually now, rather than all at once.
Is there a 32bit version available?
I could play the previous version of AMC, on my 32bit computer so far. But it isnt possible with this one.
I have read, that your using your own fork of Eduke now, and if there just isnt a 32bit version, I can understand it of course.
Then I'll just have to wait and upgrade my computer.
32 bit binaries are available here now:

Awesome! Thanks for providing these files.
Found a new bug! If i go to the fish vendor on the moon, I am now stuck there forever at the purchasing screen. I can not exit it
Can you provide a save file where you are stuck in the screen? The only way I could imagine this happened is if you somehow got out of range of the vendor. I can't get myself stuck here on the latest patch.
So I imported my game data from my original AMC TC to the 10th anniversary. However, when I start it, it starts fine until I get to the mission briefing. I try to select any mission (completed or not) and when I click "enter mission" the time just disappears and it doesn't do anything. I am literally stuck at the AMC base
It sounds like the game does not have permissions to write to the DATA folder. In which directory have you got this installed?
Never mind. I got it to run. Was in fact there wasn't a data file. My antivirus software was blocking and deleting it. So the game would start but that's it.
That's good info to have, thanks for letting us know
wish it didn't ruined my old saves, meh
