Fixed the DAMNED Log_Deleter bugs! Yay!
NOTE: Do take in mind, that some changes need a NEW USER created!
NOTE2: If you're updating from pre-093, you need to clean the 'users' folder!
Installation
Inside the archive you'll find the UplinkOS executable, its resource files and the ReadMe.
In case you're like me and you don't read ReadMes, here's the installation instructions:
- Of course, you'll need the STEAM version of the game.
- After downloading the Mod, unzip it into a place of your choice.
- Go to Uplink's installation folder. In STEAM's case, the default is: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Uplink
- Copy the contents of the Mod's zip file into this folder.
- Go to the "users" folder. Back-up & move/delete all the files here.
- Back-up the original Uplink.exe.
- Rename UplinkOS.exe to Uplink.exe.
- Now just run Uplink from the STEAM interface and your ready to start hacking!
This is a BETA so you will encounter some bugs that I missed (especially in the later parts of the game where I didn't test as often as I should have). In case you encounter something please make a screenshot and post about it in the BUGS forum.

- Fixed the BBS Icons when the mission is encrypted
- Made the details font on the E-Mail list items a bit bigger
- Made the subject line of the E-Mail truncate when it's too big
- Added a pop-up when leaving the Files or Logs screens while running apps
- Changed the IPs to use IPv4 addresses (special IPs remain the same)
- Fixed a bug in the loan missions where the mission would not be completed if the player wrote the loan as a "xxxxc" format
- Fixed a bug in the "Destroy a computer" missions where sometimes an employer asked to destroy one of their own computers
- Fixed a bug in the LAN view where elements would be out of draggable range
- Fixed a bug on the LAN systems login where a Voice Analyzer button would appear instead of a Password one
- Adjusted the timings of the apps (again!) to be closer to vanilla
- Fixed a bug in the Files Manager where it would show an incorrect value for the available space
- Fixed a crash when assigning hotkeys to Apps
- Changed the icons for passive (context) apps to make the active ones stand out
- Added an attachment button when viewing e-mails with attachments; this also fixes the vanilla bug where the campaign would become unplayable if he/she didn't have enough space on their HDD when receiving attachments
- Fixed the Connection Analyzer showing more security systems than there actually are
- Fixed some typos
- Fixed a bug where the LAN View would be over the fullscreen Map
- Adjusted the text truncation systems
- On the Map, the Reset button changes into a Disconnect one if connected
- Fixed a bug where the News list would not update correctly
- Fixed the Revelation_Tracker and added an icon for it
- Fixed the Revelation virus and added an icon for it
- Fixed the Faith app and added an icon for it
- Fixed the Voice_Analyzer v2.0 load menu
- Adjusted the Dictionary_Hacker's timings
- Made the news article scrollable
- Fixed the Randomizer from removing InterNIC if it was originally selected by the player
- Fixed a crash when loading a connection that had a recently removed link
- Made the location name in the top bar truncate
- Fixed the Logs screen issues! (Log_Deleter & Log_Modifier)
- Added a completion sound to the Log_Modifier
- Changed the Security Systems screen to let the player deactivate systems when the Proxy is bypassed
- Made the Files Manager open on the Files tab
- Fixed the known password buttons on Password screens
- Fixed a crash when quitting the game from the HUD
- Made the Notes and Hotkeys save in the users folder instead of in the uplinkHD folder
- When removing a user, its Notes and Hotkeys also get deleted
- Fixed a crash when deleting an E-Mail with the hotkey

I honestly don't know if it is common or not. I'm not a big mod guy.
But for me this is just common sense... you're probably spending all your free time fixing bugs on this. Even tho people do this out of their love for programming, the game, etc it takes a lot of time.
As I said, you brought one of the best games I've ever played back to life and for me that's worth a lot.
Don't know if a bug but I sense everything going too fast. Like the password breaker, it's breaking the password really fast when you start the game. Same with file/log deleter. Almost makes it too easy. I could be wrong though.
I wonder if it depends on the machine... Just checking: what processor do you have?
Also, before this version all of uplink's original apps would have a running time multiplied by 3, so maybe it's just the big difference that makes everything seem very fast?
Deleting mails using right-click --> delete duplicates them, following which the game will crash when you try and open one.
I agree with mikesoft above, everything seems to run really quickly, almost like the game didn't start you off with a crummy, near-useless CPU. xD
Those damn e-mails... UGH! They're more annoying than the Logs XD
The thing is, that before this version, all apps had a 3x multiplier added to their timings (which got left there from before I re-wrote the apps system... ugh). Hopefully, that's why they seem fast...
I'll do some tests this weekend to see how the timings were in vanilla and adjust from there.
OK I was able to do the speed run again, but since the initial CPU seems to be more powerful than nasa's pleiades, it was rather easy. But I can confirm I encountered no bugs so far, and the log thing is fixed! great job :) great mod
I upgraded everything so now I'll try to finish the story.
Hmmm, what kind of processor do you have (the real one)? Maybe it's tied to that... although it shouldn't be... hmmm.

it's a core i7 4720HQ (asus rog g751). But the thing is, I've been playing this mod since the article came out on.. was it RPS? anyway, a long time now, and it's just on this version that I feel the starting CPU is super efficient. I did the same speed run just 2 hours before this one using the previous version and the pasword cracking, deleting files/log was definitely slower, more suited to the starting CPU uplink gives ya.
I have to agree, things are moving really really fast now. I shouldn't be able to knock out 3 or 4 log entries and disconnect before the tracker even beeps twice on the basic Gateway setup. Not sure what changed, but it feels like I had already done my usual upgrade to the 4th or 5th Gateway machine and added faster CPUs.
Once I did my upgrades like I usually do, Logs were getting knocked out faster then I could click on the next one up the page! :)

P.S.: Log_Deleter v4.0 fixes are awesome, SO happy to have this bug squashed!
So, before I released the mod in Beta, I had re-written the Apps, to work as in the vanilla version. The thing is, that I forgot a "* 3" multiplier in the Apps' timings, which I removed in this version, hence the new hastiness of the apps.
Now, I haven't tested this extensively, but on the Criminal Database and on InterNIC, the Pass Breaker and Decypher have pretty much the same timings as on vanilla. What I think the actual problem is, is that now you can delete multiple logs at a time, while in vanilla you couldn't, so you definitely cover your tracks faster.
Of course, I do have to investigate all this to confirm XD

Couple small bugs straight away: right-click deleting emails duplicates them and deleting an email using the X while reading it deletes all emails.

I had one file where I would delete 1 log and the others would disappear,
and my last one didn't even DELETE THE LOGS! God I hope I don't run into a bad bug >.<
