This week I worked on the first "mission" - when the player character comes across a tribe stranded on a small rocky island.

So this week I finished the first mission (although it still needs a bit of polish). So, let’s talk about that for a bit.

You can watch the video above, but we can also walk through some of what’s going on exactly.

So, the player character, having repaired their ship, is able to visit some islands – this will later be locked to only allow the first island to be visited – since this first mission is meant to ease the player into the concept.

When they visit the island, they’re met with a forlorn sight – a stranded tribe that is barely scraping by on the meager resources the island has to offer.

Talking to the village elder, the player can offer to help the tribe settle on their own island – but they need some resources to make the journey across.

Giving the resources to the Elder finishes off the mission, and gives the appropriate rewards – a Blood Brother unlocked which can be assigned to perform certain tasks.

And it also unlocks the first stage of the tribehome – a bit sparse for now, but it will grow later as more tribes are added to the fold.

And that’s it for this week.

Next week I have to perform some technical improvements to allow mission progress to save, but after that, it’s probably time for the second mission – something a bit more warlike.
