Hello!
This one will be very quick, since it's mostly about me wanting to show you my brand new audio skills ;)
Program:
- Introduction (but with main theme & SFX)
- Notes (Discovery Menu)
- Genome (Research Menu)
- Conclusion
1) Introduction (but with main theme & SFX)
This video is made so you can hear the full track, but i put a shorter version on Twitter. Also, here is the SFX-free soundcloud version:
2) Notes (Discovery Menu)
Reworked version. With a quick explanation of the flow
First, you get an in-game observation from the creature because you witnessed it doing something peculiar. Then you get to this menu.
At the top, the overall progression.
At the center, the creature playing the animation related to the behaviour from the plate below (here, Bipedalism).
On the left, informations about the currently displayed behaviour.
On the right, a button to get to the Genome.
You can switch the displayed behaviour by clicking on the plate, it then goes like this.
Now you can choose another behaviour to display and check your progression.
3) Genome (Research Menu)
Where you turn observations into discoveries.
Noticed the "Observed" plate in the previous menu? Well, you can turn it into an identified behaviour in this one. So you clicked on the genome button, you get here.
Then you click the "Research" button and this shows up. Here you can select the observations that will be involved in your research and choose a certain number of action, depending on your budget.
The goal is to discover at least one gene that''s related to one of the selected observations.
Aaaaaand, you're all set. You can now dive into the genome and try to turn those observations into identified behaviours, there is a whole map waiting to be explored, good luck :)
I will show you how this part works in videos when it will be fully implemented.
5) Conclusion
Not that much more to show you because i hadn't that a lot of time for the game lately with the holiday season. Also, setting up the audio in Unity took me a while, but it's quite solid now and future audio implementations will be much faster. The focus is still making those menus work in the game as i described (they partially do at the moment). Therefore my program stays the same:
- Fully integrated & working research system, therefore playable game
- Demon escaping/cooperative/rebellious processes so that you can loose
- Tools, moar of them so that you can fun
- Discoveries, moar of them so that you can even more fun
BisousBisousBye,
Amer Jongleur.

Interesting concept.
Thanks :)
