Happy Friday all!
The team are all back to work after our show at Dreamhack Atlanta, and we’ve made some great progress since our last update, including new assets for both the farmhouse and town area, and finally the long awaited saving system.
Dreamhack Atlanta was a fantastic event, and we met a lot of awesome gamers, streamers and fellow developers. We were the only game to fly out to the event all the way from Australia, which was quite the privilege!
We talked to a lot of Streamers who were keen to start streaming the demo, so we’ve gotten to work ensuring there’s a page for Harvest Hands on Twitch.tv and on Mixer! Send us a private message if you'd like to get access to the private demo!
Now, onto the new developments….
Farm House
Currently for the demo, we’re showing off what the house could look like, with all the furniture in-tact and pristine. When you start the game, most of the furniture will be destroyed (much like the farm house) and you’ll be able to start with a clean slate and remove the furniture to prepare for crafting your own!
Angela’s Area
We’ve started shifting some of the art team towards creating new assets for the town area, and the first location we started with was Angela’s Fishing Shack on the shores of the river.
Saving System
Now for the big programming progress this update, we’ve finally got a working saving system which is currently going through its last round of testing.
From the main menu, you can pick a save slot, type in a name, and BAM you’ve started a game. Your name will appear in several places in the game, including your door and in dialogue (dialogue implementation still WIP).
In-game, you can save at any time by hitting the save button in the menu. The game will auto save every time you sleep and when you quit.
That’s all for today’s development update, thanks for reading!
