In No Plan B, every choice you make, however small, may decide the fate of your team. Assemble your squad. Work out the perfect plan. Watch it play out in real time. Pick your squad’s entry points and gear them up with the arsenal at your disposal. Choose from a list of firearms, armor and grenades - each with their pros and cons - to make sure your team has the right gear for the situation. But be wary: The arsenal doesn’t replenish between missions, so you must always think two steps ahead. Study the 3D map carefully and use the innovative timeline system to move and synchronize your team. Coordinate your movements, grenades and room entries to take the enemy by surprise. One wrong move, one corner left unchecked, could be fatal to your mission - there’s no plan B! Strategic roguelike No Plan B has received mod support powered by Mod.io!

No Plan B, a strategic, challenging roguelike with an emphasis on pre-planning, has just gone into early access and features modding support powered by mod.io. Read on to learn more about No Plan B and how mod.io will support a new set of community creators!

No Plan B is the second title from French independent game developer GFX47, whose past work at other companies includes Might & Magic Heroes: Kingdoms and Dungeon of the Endless. It's a tough roguelike with a similar mission structure to FTL, and emphasises careful planning at the start of missions to minimise casualties for a resource-strapped player.

The game's title comes from the player's inability to effect change once a mission has begun. All the work is done in the pre-planning phase - equipment, positioning, breached entrances, and more. A successful run will take account of all the possible factors that could impede the squad, but one misstep can cost you valuable resources or even your entire playthrough.

The nature of No Plan B's gameplay loop makes the prospect of a level editor a no-brainer - one of the main features of the game is the community made levels that, now, thanks to mod.io, are easily accessible. From simple scenarios that might take a brief session to beat to gigantic, intricately woven encounters that'll have you planning and planning over and over for that perfect run, these tools considerably enhance the gameplay offering.

Having only gone live on December 1st, No Plan B has already met positive reception from players, with some mentioning the tutorials being surprisingly effective at introducing players into its brutal concept. Meanwhile, 22 levels are already available to download from mod.io, meaning early players will still have plenty of content to master. More is, inevitably, on the way.

No Plan B is currently 10% off on Steam, and as it's in Early Access, more features are planned for down the line. More campaigns, weapons, perks, and characters will all filter in over time, though content is hardly at a premium in No Plan B thanks to a considerable offering right out the gate, as well as a random mission generator that, whilst not quite as curated as developer or player made levels, is sure to create the occasional lucky gem.
