A new announcement on Out of Ammo’s Steam Early Access page reveals that the VR shooter from former DayZ developer Dean Hall is nearing final release. Out of Ammo is a multiplayer, co-operative first-person shooter with a unique mechanic that allows players to zoom their view out to a top-down perspective and place buildings or direct non-player character allies to attack targets.
The above new launch trailer shows of some of these mechanics, as well as the additions made during the game’s Early Access period including new weapons and mission types. Our original story about Out of Ammo’s announcement goes into the origins of the title, and how the developer wants to keep the game smaller in scale and scope when compared to the sprawling, complex mod that is DayZ.
Out of Ammo is available on Steam for US$19.99. It currently supports only the HTC Vive and its motion controllers. Hall describes what is next in store for the game as it nears the end of its time in Early Access:
“We are focusing now on fixing any remaining issues with this release candidate before going 1.0 with the build. Then we're focused on new content! We are looking at one paid DLC with any fixes/updates found during that rolled into the existing build of Out of Ammo.”
