The moment everyone has been waiting for is finally upon us! We are in the final stretch for releasing Last Man Standing Co-op 4.0. We are estimating that 4.0 will be released in the next 1-2 weeks!! Currently we are working on incorporating the optimized Classic Doom for Doom 3 1.3.1 maps into LMS. For more information on that mod check out Cdoom.d3files.com LMS 4.0 will also include numerous map fixes/tweaks especially to the SP Coop levels. Heruncle has put a lot of work into preventing players from telefragging and many other fixes that make the levels much more fun to play. In addition there is a new map from Alucard called TS_Hellpentagram to give us now over 80 maps tweaked for Co-op play! If you are interested in helping to test 4.0 as we put together this final release of LMS please contact us either in the forums or IRC.
There has been a lot of discussion as to what the next project will be for the LMS community. One of the ideas that has been greatly discussed is the idea for a Standalone version of LMS. If this were to happen Platinum Arts Sandbox is what would be used to create it. As a note Sandbox Beta Beta 2.1 has already received over 3k downloads on fileplanet in less than two weeks. You can find more information about Sandbox here:

We are interested in your opinions on the matter and also seeing who would be interested in helping out. Please check out the forum post here and let us know what you think:

Can't wait!
Great to hear the date of releasing LMS 4.0, hope there be no delay. Can't wait to see how Telefragging fix will work and new maps.
If LMS is going to be standalone, It' means no more new versions as Doom 3 mod?
I'm a bit sad theres no working mac version, i want to play this great mod but cant. If this goes stand alone and you guys use platinum arts sandbox(which works with linux, windows, and mac osx as well), could you try and get a mac version going? Just a request, keep up the great work.
@ pvt.johnson
LMS 3.5 was the only version that did not have mac support. 4.0 will have mac support. If/when a standalone happens it would be mac supported though we might need someone to compile the binary for us or else people would have to do it on their own.
@Przeciwko
4.0 is the last version of the Doom 3 Mod from us. It might receive future "unofficial" releases as I'm prepared to let another team take over the project if they want. Also we still have more content to release including a map pack. There is actually a lot more we could do with LMS in a standalone version. With SB we have full access to the source, it has better netcode, much easier to design levels, etc.
I hope I answered your questions. Feel free to ask more. Take care.

Thats awesome man, i'll try out 4.0 when it gets out!
I hope you guys find a mac guy if it goes stand alone.
Well Calimer, I hope that you release the source code of mod after 4.0, or find other team.
Map pack would be nice, I'm interested what you mean by "other content" - more character skins, "little" bug fixes etc.?
About Standalone version you are right, but don't forget that id Tech 4 will be open-source, it's just matter of time. Wouldn't be better wait to that? Bad thing about this is that it can be one/two year of waiting...
If its gonna take that long for the engines source to be released i'd say go with Sandbox or some other free engine(Sauer, dark places, etc), if they start working on the standalone soon then many advances can be made on the new engine of choice so that things can work out(or wait... and wait.... for tech4's source to be released).
