This Noesis Interactive tutorial teaches the process of creating custom facial maps using Photoshop. Learn how to take a series of digital photos and edit them together so that they are ready to be mapped onto a 3D game model as a single texture. The principles of the lesson can be applied to any image editing program. If you’ve ever wanted to see your own face inside a video game, this is the lesson for you.
You will need to get the Maya application from Autodesk to follow this tutorial.
For more video tutorials we recommend you browse them all at the Noesis Profile.
Great! Thanks for that. I was always using only 3 pics to make a facemap and had probelms to fill the gaps. Also the hint with the eyes is really useful.
wow that was pretty cool, even for me and im not a texture artist.
very nice tutorial!
very handy!
You should have shown it on a hl2 model or something.
Very nice tutorial to creat our models.
thanx a lot.
This looks very cool. Might help me since I've not yet tried character texturing yet.
Thanks for the comments everybody!! We're glad you guys are finding it useful.
Broadsword: You're right we probably should have shown it applied to an in-game model at the end of the tutorial. If you go to the Noesis Interactive ModDB group page and watch the "Noesis Interactive Promotional Trailer" you can see the facemap on a Deathmatch character at the very beginning of the video.
Thanks again everybody and keep an eye out for new tutorials and DVDs !!
