We are trying out a new weekly Overgrowth alpha format! David himself took some time to illustrate the traditional changelog in video form.
Don't forget that you can help support us, try out our weekly alphas (such as the one in the video), and chat with other preorderers in the Secret Preorder Forum by preordering Overgrowth.
Be sure to watch it in HD!
The features highlighted in the above video are as follows (among some extra ones thrown in for good measure):
- Active blocking
- Material particle and decal effects
- Dynamic shadows match sky color better
- New sounds for hit, cloth, bodyfall
- Particle XML files
- More varied enemy attack behavior
- Updated the simplified terrain caches in the deployed build
- Added some debugging for the config.txt / defaults.txt issue
Thanks as always for all the support! See you guys in IRC and the forums.

dollars are expensive in my country,1 dollar is like 10 dollar, but i prefer saving...oh,thanks for the info btw
Looking really nice, smooth animations, nice detailed character as well, I'll keep an eye out for future updates!
Hi there!I'm going to buy Overgrowth, but i have some questions before i do so.Have you added wolves yet?Can i play as a wolf?Did you work on compatibility? Is the game compatible with windows 7?Can i install it on as many computers as i want?Does it have an annoying protection?Sorry for the many questions, keep up the good work!
Pretty sure most of your questions are answered by reading the Wiki/FAQ:

Lotsa cool stuff goin' down.
That wind sound whenever you move, even for the slightest second sounds like it would drive me crazy.
Wow, the combat looks great between two characters when you add in blocking to the gameplay. For your information, lowering your arm to 'block' a kick aimed at the waist or thigh is a terrible idea and would only work against people who are holding their kick back, like in sparring. If you are dealing with full contact kicks aimed at that area, you are better off absorbing the kick with your thigh, or if it is aimed more at the waist or floating ribs, slightly dropping your arm at the shoulder (and not unflexing/straightening your arm) is more safe and effective. ¬.¬ waits for someone to disagree with me...
It also bothers me that while doing the front thrust kick, or fireman's kick as some call it (The kick that knocks him down at 6:15), your animation has the character completely lower their hands. At no time should someone lower their hands during a kick. I doubt anyone would disagree with me on that.
Are there plans for throws and for locks in Overgrowth combat?
The ragdoll is fun to watch but I think it's way too much to be realistic.
It even looks like they loose their bones!
A little muscle tonus would look more real.
Apart from that amazing work.
i see a couple people complaining about the realness of the game....
i mean come on....its a bunny running on 2 legs, and carries a sword.....
i think the realistic idea went out the window from the start....
I dont know much about color theory, but shouldnt shadow be the opposite color, than which it is lighted by. Blue shadow is right, but not because it is light by sky, but cause it is lighted by sun which is yellow.
wind affected particles ftw
sooo, you block all hits with just one button?
no high-mid-low attacks and blocks? :(
Looks awesome :D .
Some very nice work with the particle effects. I especially appreciate the smoke effect being effected by the environment. Instead of simply dissipating quickly away ( explosion i.e. ), it allows for adding some extra dimension to a scene - say, smoke slowly rising from a hilltop temple chimney or large sconces, being blown from one direction to another in the wind. It would look pretty sharp.
