In November of 2005, BioWare and developer Pandemic Studios made a partnership, together with U2 star Bono's Elevation Partners, for a shared development effort that melded the two companies as one holding company -- holding company called BioWare/Pandemic Studios -- designed to strengthen the independent viability of both companies. Each continued to operate as a separate company.
Founded by Dr. Greg Zeschuk and Dr. Ray Muzyka on February 1, 1995, BioWare's first big commercial release was 1996's Shattered Steel. The company followed up with bestsellers like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
In October of 2007, BioWare was purchased by Electronic Arts.
