One of the best looking things to come out of DP. However, one suggestion is to turn down the specular map on your curtains and fabrics... theres no reason they should be shining like plastic.

There is no code rewrite at this moment, this is original DarkPlaces's code. :)

It feigns to be silk, of course I could lower the specular a little and make a design or a drawing over it.

light rays is patches with spicial transparent texture or models ?
Yes, it is a patch with an alpha channel texture and a shader animation to look like dust.
