The first official trailer for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase today, giving us a glimpse of the world of the long awaited sequel. Check out the trailer below:
Accompanying the trailer was the news that the game will have a simultaneous release on PC and Xbox Series X. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will also enter Xbox Game Pass on console on day one, along with a host of other games announced during the showcase.
The developers GSC Game World are aiming to continue the series' blend of immersive first person shooter simulation and horror in the upcoming sequel. Saying on the official S2 website that the game will feature of the biggest open-worlds to date to explore, featuring an epic branching story with multiple endings.
Unfortunately the developers aren't ready to disclose a release date for the game just yet, so we'll have to wait a little longer to know when we can finally re-enter the zone.

I really like how they payed homage to the loading banner from shadow of chernobyl with that last pose the masked character did. Truly astounding, I'm completely biased here of course heh. Long time s.t.a.l.k.e.r. here, waiting eagerly for more zona adventures.
I've been there before as well, I just hope that S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 DOES come out, it sounds and looks very good.
It sure looks pretty Stalkery. Time will tell
As long as Epic don't snatch it up, I am very excited.
Microsoft snatched it
No more separate maps and loading screens, GSC already confirmed it...
We have one huge seamless world to explore.
Let's hope it won't get ruined by console fanboys.
Yup
Aye... so many games lost to being 'consolified'...
Да!
Is obviously not real ingame gameplay, but i'm sure it will not look far from that.
Btw just to balance my own expectations, imo GSC doesn't have it "easy" this time around, ok the first game almost didn't came out, but imo that was because the team was inexperienced in making such huge games but it was unique enough that i'm almost sure, it was obviously a winner to anyone that play tested it.
Now, is not so obvious anymore, not only the original game has hundreds of mods that change gameplay and looks, we also got the Metro series for our action fix, Escape from Tarkov for those that like deep RPG features and weapon customization, in some aspects Chernobylite for the horror and strangeness side of Stalker and I will also mention, two free stalker games on the making, one also in UE4, using ripped assets from the existing games and another using the Crysis engine (Cryengine 2) both IMO look very good in their own right.
So, this means to me that, there's many games now that copy Stalker look&feel;, is not so unique anymore and that makes it harder for GSC to surprise me again, so I don't expect they will but lets hope.
I think the people shouldnt expect anything like STALKER Anomaly or highly developed mods, content-wise - but people should focus on the core mechanics. Everything from older STALKER games should be there, especially its AI and A-Life.
From what I see currently, the visuals are great, if they manage to maintain such level of visuals. We know that there will be one seamless map without loading screens. We know that devs are focusing a lot on the game being able to be modded to large extents ... these are all great signs.
If the core features are good and if the modding is easier ( by UE4 as main engine, it definitely will be ... ) ... then you can expect all the content to come with time. You can expect same or even bigger mods being made at one point. Disregard the petty complaints like "oh, this gun is not in the game..." - first mods will anyways be a gun porn, like always.
To conclude - if the main "skeleton" of the game is made properly, everything that gets "fleshed" out with time will look and play great. One seamless map sounds great - because it will change the way how the game is played drastically. Im just wondering about A-life and warfare in game ... if that is done good, I think we have our skeleton of the game.
Also, I hope that devs are throwing their eye at various STALKER mods and weighing out possibilities ... and even if this game will be 2-3-4 years away, Im ready to wait ... Im having a good feeling about how they went with UE4 and capabilities of UE4.
The main concern isn't even the content imo, it's the fact that this may not feel like STALKER at all or that the game gets downgraded because it's on a console too. Not talking about graphics but things like: A bad UI, controls being too simple to accommodate a controller, a walk in the park difficulty, reduced A life and so on.

GSC mentions that "no compromises are needed" - but yes, this could mean only graphics downgrade. The controls or GUI could have been screwed up - example would be how TES Oblivion transitioned to TES Skyrim, there was obvious change to worse regarding PC controls.
I hope this wont happen, I think we should ask this GSC in front and discuss... hopefully they will clarify that PC version will be strictly as intended, without ANY compromises for console version.
We will see i suppose, maybe they will find a way around these issues somehow.
All we can do is hope that the game doesn't get gutted.
Metro Exodus is the bar, hope GSC can do chin-ups.
Meh, Exodus had like 1 or maybe 2 good levels, the rest was a letdown.
better be mod support
My main concern is: one huge world. We all know how bad the old stalker engines worked performance wise. UE4 is also slow by design (it's difficult to get it faster). So pairing these two things gives me not a good feeling. I hope first mods with performance improvements happen quickly.
DragonLord what engine is faster than UE4? Unity? If so, I totally disagree, Unity in my experience, is slower than UE4, imo is very noticeable, all the Unity games I have feel sluggish (and amateurish), compared to the Unreal engine ones, all because almost 99.9% of Unity games are developed with C# scripting, where's pretty much all UE4 games, are made with low level c++, a much faster programing language, is a fact that translates into smoother games. And lets not disregard a VERY important detail, Unity has ZERO mod support.
Yay, the franchise is not dead! I am pleasantly surprised and cautiously optimistic (actually VERY cautiously cause this project seemingly involves Mr. Grygorovych). I hope they'll give us a proper SDK and mod support (and at some point all the dev builds, of course), on top of a polished and true novel entry in the STALKER-series.
They'll definitely have to live up to the immense quality and diversity the modding community has provided this far!
It better have A-Life because no open world game has ever been capable of truly showing off an Open World with real factions like STALKER has done.
All I can say is that I'm really hyped for this. 😸
Will S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 come to Playstation 4 or 5?
