Are you a 3D artist? Are you looking for some inspiration? Do you just want to collaborate or know who your fellow ModDB artists are? Doesn't matter what application you use or how you do it... if you're a modeller, animator, skinner or looking at getting started with 3D, then this is the group for you!
Here is a collaboration project of a environment scene for my environment class. The apartment in the center and the right side of screen is created by me; they are a few picture behind on moddb, the road and the skytrain track are also model and texture by me.
For props, I modeled and textured the wooden fences, the hand rail, and the air conditioner, see if you can find them.
The rest is made by the awesome environment class of spring quarter 2010, i think 24 people including myself.
Finally, everyone places the library of props and buildings excluding the roads and skytrain tracks, foundation and grounds. And somehow my environment looks like this.
Really nice. =)
Need some people. =)
Yeah, some people walking around... seems to be quite a successful project. If only indie/mod leaders would be able to gather people in such a casual way, we'd have loads of purposeful & beautiful programs/indies/demonstrations.
sadly the people we are going to add in are not ready for the final deadline, initially the project doesn't no include any people.
I know it looks weird that the hotdog stand have no people around it =(
everything seems pretty nicely modeled, nothing catches the eye though, I know the focus is the whole scene itself but it's just all gaudy.
besides my bitching, everything looks pretty professional and well :) I'd just spice up the textures or rendering somehow.
Agreed with wird, the modeling seems pretty decent, but I seem to find myself staring at the bus on the left more than anything. What I mean to say is that it just looks very uninteresting.
I think the shadows need a good overhaul and possibly some ambient occlusion because right now it just looks like it's built inside a very old engine, like a high defenition Half-Life, and I'm refering to the shadows not the actual models or textures.
I know this has been mentioned but it's sorely lacking in people in the scene. You know, even if it's just cutouts and photoshopped in that would make a difference!
Also, things like sewer grates and stuff would even out the picture a little more, maybe a little steam like you see in the films also.
Anyway, I have said all I can think of right now, hopefully it will help in producing a more defined picture. Other than that though, it's a fine effort, good job!
I totally agree with all of you, but deadline is the problem, note that all of the models have no normal/bump or spec map and obviously AO, the scene is light with one single directional light and a few bounce light.
A lot of work should be done with this project but thats all it came to for this class and shame I didn't get more out of it.
Awesome!
Personally I love it, if I were to say change anything, the roads look to soft and bright. I would consider dirtying them up a bit.
I like it indeed, but I feel something is missing, don't know what yet tho'
Color correction.
