Yes, it looks like the water is rising from the ground. The reason is, that the water simulation is quite rough to grant enough performance on slower systems. I've tried different things to improve the visualisation, but sofar no attempt was satisfying enough. I will most likely revisit the visualation in the future, but real fluid simulation are quite resource hungry and eventually it is just one game feature of many :-)
Check the minimum requirements. The videocard is often the issue when you run into trouble. If you have a valid videocard try to install the newest drivers.
The first 3 dungeon levels are in, you get your gnoblins, you can build up your own dungeon and you can do crafting, though the dungeon reputation is clamped, so that you will not get all available gnoblins.
This is most of the features (pets and dungeon sharing is missing). Take a look at our about page for further information: Gnoblins.net
The art style is really just a art style. The lights will be handled differently, though the surrounding is lit the same way. If it is dark, it is dark and you don't see what lurks in the darkness, you just hear it.
I've added the option to let the player choose himself the level of stylization. When your are more happy with the lowest setting, then choose it :)
The RTS part is really lightweight. You don't micromanage the gnoblins a lot (you choose a profession path). They are here to build your dungeon and craft for you Additionally it is planed, that you can take one with you on your journey through the dungeon, where he will react much like an autonomous pet and they will be useful when you need to defend your dungeon.
Hey, thank you all for your feedback.
There's a great reception for 3-tone cel-shading, a reason to keep it :)
I will try to leave the other options in too, so that you can choose your favorite yourself.
An attractive and comfortable place for a gnoblin is not the same as for a human. Gnoblins are a mix of goblins and gnomes, unlikely that you will see a gnoblin hopping through the dungeon wearing some tights singing old elven songs... but, the more I think about it.. ;-)
