People have gotten those maps to work.
Some say that turning down the lighting (or maybe video quality?) helps get more maps working with BF2 CC too.

In some of my comments in videos or elsewhere I mentioned that the 2.0 patch would enable a way that would allow you to (instead of writing into your base game files) install to an alternate location so that you didn't overwrite files.
I tried to upload a package here on moddb, but they kept deleting it because I messed something up with the tags or something.
Here is a package that one could use as an 'alternate default' install location.
Unzip this 'alternate_default' into your addon folder and install files in there instead of into your "data2/_lvl_common/" folder.
Not that I've tried it, but I think for steamdeck you would possibly create an Empty 'GameData' folder and install to that (on your windows PC).
Then copy those files over to your steamdeck BF2 GameData folder.
Not compatible with Anakin's 1.5 patch.
Not sure about Harrisonfog's remaster, haven't tried with that one.
This should be looked at as a temp solution for curious modders to test out their mods on the classic collection. These files will likely be overwritten by any updates by Aspyr.
It is too early to be releasing something like this for general use.
From a design perspective, it messes with too many of the files under the _lvl_common folder. And should be updated to live in the addon folders (as much as possible).
Steamdeck Note:
Installing on Steamdeck by first installing on PC then copying the files over to Steamdeck.
In this state the Game does play, but lacks sound.
To fix, copy the sound files from your SWBF2 'GameData/data/_lvl_pc/sound/' folder over to the equivalent folder under saga edition (only copy the files not already present).
Might also want to copy over the 'Movies' folder; (or better yet create a sym link to the movies folder if you already have them). (Could also just create symlinks in the sound folder too if they already exist).
Spiret, is there a better way for Steamdeck?
Perhaps a text file to update with the path to the SWBF2 folder already on the device?
For those who would prefer to play on PC or Steamdeck via XEMU, I've posted a video on how to set up and play here:
It worked for me with regards to online multiplayer. I've not attempted LAN, but I assume it'll work with that as well.
As Far as I know, yes. I do use this in online multiplayer.
I've not seen the HUD issue you seem to be having.
As far as option for controller vibration, I pretty much added what the Steam download had (in the Feb 2021 update); and I've not looked into controller vibration.
If you're interested in the XBOX mod, but don't have a modded XBOX (or modded 360) to play it on you can follow this tutorial to play with it in XEMU:
I don't know if it's possible to fix that one.
I have no idea how Nucleus Coop works and it might be an issue that needs to be fixed the .exe itself, which I do not have the source code for.
Saga Edition is a fantastic mod but it has been done in a way that is incompatible with other modifications.
Spiret would need to modify Saga edition to incorporate the changes (which he could do; as all the files needed are on the referenced public GitHub repo).
I was not able to figure out how to map roll onto the controller. Maybe in the future, not sure though.
This is an underrated mod. Sweet techno soundtrack, silky smooth visuals.
Love it!
it's pretty easy to make SWBFII Mods for XBOX and PS2.
It's documented over on the GameToast GitHub
Github.com(munging)-SWBFII
I'll have to think about how that could be done well.
I don't remember how the shaderpatch works, it might need to be modified to target the new executable.
The mod was not tested in this way. I don't believe it can be used in a piece-meal fashion (all or nothing).
It is possible to do that. The GitHub repo should be able to reveal how to do that.
I believe you'll need to own and use the Steam version for this mod to work correctly.
I don't think launching the GOG version of the game through the steam interface will do it.
Updated:
Added some missing Sounds, fixed the BF2 PS2 sound munge, added tools to check that the PS2 and XBOX sound files aren't too big.
Nice!
Complete with vehicles, heroes and Animations not seen before (at least on Xbox).
Really like the CIS snow speeder replacement.
I think you want:
Secretsociety.com
Re-testing with the 1.3 patch reveals some layout issues at certain resolutions.
Let me know below if you see layout issues
Also, this should support all the missions selectable through the 1.3 patch's mission select screen.
It does come with a command line tool that can do that (SoundRipperVB.exe).
This is pretty cool.
I think it could/should be done as an 'addon' though.
Where you put all the button textures in an addme.lvl and just re-name it to 'addme.script'.
That way you're not messing around with anyone's 'Common' scripts.
