nice! oddly enough I just saw the misfits perform tonight, therefore this pleases me even more so haha
can people stop putting maps in the mod section? keep getting my hopes up for actual mods haha
there is a bucketload on the fc3 pc forums though
I would say the direct-download version of the mod would be your best bet
If that doesn't work, I am not sure what to do from there as I am having problems with the archive packing tools (all versions) which are causing some problems with the game's menus (causing a CTD when you try to change display settings)
I have contacted the author of the mod tools but there hasn't been an update for around a year and I've had no respeonse
Bottom line, try the direct download version of the mod, if that doesn't work, send me your patch.dat and patch.fat files and I will see mod them with the settings that I have for the 1.01 version and hopefully it will work
Good luck!
lol nice, you should still be able to patch it to 1.03 though, just use a direct-download link rather than the auto-updated
i've installed fc2 without needing the cd-key - you only need it for multiplayer
and no, the mod won't work with 1.00 of FC2
I'm still running 1.01 at the moment
The mod tools have been buggy for me of late - every time I update, when I go in to display settings I get a ctd with the updated mod tools
It's a catch-22 because there are a couple implementations with new weapons and what-not which wouldn't have been there otherwise, but then you can't change your display settings
I am considering releasing just the gamemodes.xml and then a link to the mod tools and leave it there, but I am still hopeful I can find a work-around for the CTDs haha
hmmm that is weird - i don't have a steam copy of FC2 myself so I've had to basically rely on community beta testers and they said it was okay
but we all know how mod-friendly steam can be haha
the mod only really beefs up the players weapons (though the AI do get a slight boost) so I'm not sure what's going on...
probably steam blocking modded files
Hmm I had another look at the values for the G3 and decided to increase them to values higher than the AK/FN/M4 etc. but the gun still seems to be grossly underpowered
The range on the G3 is higher/or as high as any of the other assault rifles (originally I thought it was suffering from a low range, as I had managed to do more damage to enemies closer), but it seems the G3 is underpowered even when it has higher damage values than the AK and FN!
I'll look in to it further and see if I can figure out what's wrong wit the G3 :S
That doesn't seem right, no-one else seems to be having problems like that
You are running 1.03 right?
Should only take 1-2 rounds, 3 tops with the G3
Try re-installing FC2 and starting a new game to see if the issue persists, but from the tests I've done and feedback I've received the damages are far better than Vanilla FC2
not sure if April fools or not...
I hope so too, but it's going to be damn hard unless a more up-to-date archive viewer is released, as there way too many unrecognised and unknown files in the archives
I've contacted the created of the mod tools but I've not heard back from him yet - hopefully soon and with some good news, as if there can be more files to play with, I might be in luck!
thanks for the support!
How much more/less damage are we talking here?
Here is the link to the FC2 mod tools thread on the FC2 board, it has all the relevant links and instructions - this is what I have been using =)
Hope it helps!
MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!*
typo, meant to be nooooo
I didn't notice any changes with the ammo upgrades with the DLC weapons when I tested and the ammo upgrades are the main stats I've modified for the maximum ammo values for the weapons
I'll have another muck around and see
compared to the older releases, this is incredible
top effort!
no cows were harmed in the making of this game (cod/cod2 lol)
I can't edit the stats for the DLC weapons unfortunately =(
I'll double-check the M-79s stats, but it is magazine dependant (MGL-140 has 3 mags and the M-79 has 4 mags - if 1 round is a mag)
All the stats are based on magazines, so guns with smaller mags (i.e. shotguns are held back a bit; as are single shot weapons)
I'll double check them all and possibly re-release as 1.02
No, you don't have to start a new game, I've loaded old save games without issues
I'd recommend starting a new game all the same, as it helps with the feel of the mod
I may have hit the end of the road =(
I'm getting far too many unrecognised files when extracting the game archives and all the ones that the extractor does recognise, I've found do nothing to control the spawn aspects of the game
Until a more updated version of the archive viewer/extractor is released, I don't think I can do much more - and I doubt there will be any updates for the archive viewer/extractor until FC3
If anyone knows of any alternative archive tools, that would be greatly appreciated - either PM me or comment on my profile page
Thanks for the support guys!
I've only been able to edit within the game parameters unfortunately :(
There's about 130,000 unrecognised files within the archives that the archive viewer can't pick up
And with no new version likely, it's probably going to stay that way
I have tried moving weapons to other slots but I get crashes every time, as I can't edit all the necessary files
I'm hoping to get a couple more members on board to try and nut this out, as going through each of the 130,000-odd files to find out what they do will probably be the death of me
Glad you like it so far though!
I've not been able to find the speed stats for them - but I know the strength stats can be modded in the \engine\gamemodes\gamemodesconfig.xml in the patch.dat/.fat
I am gonna look in to the vehicle speeds though, for the next possible release
Try the \engine\gamemodes\gamemodesconfig.xml file in the patch.dat/.fat archive
That's the main file I've been working off with the weapon damages
Actually scratch the "100s of unknown files", the worlds archive has come up with ~127000 unknown files haha
They don't have extensions, they are literally just name "3F4BDDF8" etc. Most will open up in WordPad, but when there's literally 100s of them ranging anywhere from 5kb to 6mb then it's a drain to go through each and every one of them - especially when there is no indication as to which sub-folder the files should be in - all the unknown folders from an archive get lumped in one folder
I will keep trying and go through as many as I can before going insane haha
No worries =)
I'm just glad that I could get my mod out there TBH - and am glad you enjoyed it =D
Not sure RE: the POV, there's probably something in the game files somewhere
And no, I don't get paid to do this - just for kicks =)
I love FC2 as a game and wanted to make it even better
Glad you enjoy it =)
I really hope I can sort the spawn system out though :(
For those of you having trouble downloading the steam version of the mod, the mirrors should be up and running again - I tried downloading about 5 minutes ago and got about 4 mirrors
Also, here is the filefront link for the mod:
It is still 1.01 but it contains both the Retail and the Steam versions of the mod
Sometimes the link will appear to not work, as I don't think the Far Cry 2 filefront page has been managed for a long time and the mod only shows up every now and then when searching - even though it is there - so I decided to bypass all that and give you all a direct link to it
Good luck and happy gaming
There should be links up now, I just checked.
I got a mirror in Australia, The Netherlands, UK and the US
