Hey JonnyBoy0719. I sent you a PM. Add me on Steam.
We're going to make a full build release with our stuff, the github is kind of obsolete atm.
Everything made and included in the mod will be released, yes.
It sucks that we never got to finish it but we don't plan on releasing it and never coming back to it, after all literally all the voice overs are done (even Ross Scott worked for us), all the writing is done, all the map layouts are done. We just literally have no time to sit down and finish the game.
Chris has started porting content to the Source2013 build of Opposing Force 2. After he's done, we'll release a working build and then we'll officially halt development on this, indefinitely. We're sorry.
We've already released most of our content on our github.
You are going to get updates pretty soon! Don't worry, sorry for taking so long, we've been really busy with a big project of ours.
still some stuff to go but we'll probably upload the maps and binaries sometime soon, the binaries are definitely coming before the maps though.
Oh, no that one isn't. If it is, i'm pretty sure it's uncompiled. I'll ask Ferdam.
I'll keep giving you guys updates on when you're going to get the binaries and official compiled maps.
it's cut from urban chaos, we could rework a bullsquid in though.
I thought we uploaded the development assets zip, which includes our maps, but apparently we haven't. So I'm uploading it right now.
The development files & assets should be here in a couple hours guys, just letting you know. We're not making an official announcement on this release yet because we haven't got everything 100% yet as I mentioned.
The assets release includes all models, materials, sounds for OF2.
The development release includes all of our uncompiled maps (including ones never used), documentation (all map layouts, drafts, voice acting scripts, etc), prefabs and utilities.
Next release will feature the binaries and compiled maps by us. Remember this is not a definitive release, it should be interesting to whoever wants to browse our content, compile and try out our maps & start producing whatever they want with our assets.
If you're unfamiliar with github we'll release a tutorial soon.
Uploading the assets right now, We'll tell everyone how to download it from github and what not. Remember though that it's still not a playable condition but you should be able to extract stuff from .vpk and use that to make your own maps with OF2 content for now, browse through our models, textures, sounds library etc.
We're also uploading the development folder later today with -all- our maps (including ones never used), documentation (all map layouts, drafts, voice acting scripts, etc), prefabs and utilities. So this should be a pretty interesting release.
The working binaries with all our actual game content should be coming soon after this, Chris is gonna be spending this week mostly on OF2, and then you'll all be able to play everything we've done so far.
SORRY FOR TAKING SO LONG TO RELEASE THIS.
I'm actually packing up the assets right now to upload on github and I decided to go back and make a credits.txt, check this out:
It's really amazing that we've worked and connected to so many people during the development of OF2.
releasing stuff tomorrow. remember it's mainly assets yet. we're still going to release the binaries later for those who don't know/can't compile the game.
this is our github:
you can compile the mod using this, but it doesn't have the content necessary to play it. we'll be uploading the content to a svn for those who don't want to/know how to compile the mod themselves this weekend. (aka we'll give you guys a working build)
even though this is still not the release, we still feel like we need to let you guys know this is very close to it. if people have been wondering what we've been up to, this should probably make everything clearer.
we're trying really hard to push a release for this week.
We need people who can model, do sound effects, voice act, facepose and map. We already have the story and all dialogue set in stone.
OF2 is already ported to the 2013 engine.
There will be no "team". Anyone willing to collaborate will be welcome to help as long as they present quality work.
I'm replying to you because I want this to be on top; some people aren't truly understanding the news article, we must have made it unclear.
This shouldn't be sad news or whatever. It would be sad if we cancelled the mod. We're not. We still want this to see the light of day so we're turning this into a collaborative project.
If you do not understand this, this means that anyone skilled enough should be able to contribute with assets, even if it's the slightest contribution. This means: models, maps, textures, sound effects, voice acting and anything else related to the game. If you think your content is par to ours you're free to contribute, if not you can contribute with ideas and bug reports.
Right now me and Chris are really busy with a big project and we really haven't had any time to work on Opposing Force 2, hence the decision.
Yes. This is about to become a collaborative project. Although me and Chris528 are not going to be working solely on this we're still going to aid and direct the community towards a full release.
We're not pulling the plug, this is about to become a collaborative project. We still wish to see this released as a final campaign.
We're gonna release an interview soon which will explain a lot about the game's state of development & what not. Keep tuned.
This is going to be specially exciting for people who are willing to help us out & those who want to play the mod.
