I did get the .trn file and placed it in savedgames/ThereCanBeOnlyTwo, which is where my pretender file is.
I did get the .trn file and placed it in savedgames/ThereCanBeOnlyTwo, which is where my pretender file is.
I'm in my very first MP game, submitted my pretender, but I'm a little unsure how to proceed.
If I select "Network," enter www.llamaserver.net,, and then it asks for a port. Port 80 is not accepted, so what is the port?
A .trn file is to be sent to me?
Sorry to be asking, but I want to play MP, and I don't (yet) know how!
Right-click the game name in the Play menu and select "View CD Key.,"
"These are the original DOS games." Therefore, they run on DOSBox, and the game should run the same on any platform.
HOWEVER: libSDL_sound-1.0.so.1 was not installed on my system, and DOSBox was not marked as executable, so it took a little fiddling, but they do run on Linux.
Is there a way to set resoultion? On my 1366x768 laptop, there is severe overscan to the point that menu items are beyond the edge of the screen. Is there a commnand line switch to set resolution?
Hooray! Started Ur...this is going to be FUN!
I'm going to take the .pdf to a print shop and get it spiral bound, like a certain game that used to be sold by Another Company had printed. I keep my DOM3 manual within close reach.
Print out the manual; it'll tell you a lot about playing the game that isn't obvious if you learn-while-playing.
Ordered (finally)! Now it's just a matter of patience...
Thank you for your amazingly great games; I bought COE3 as soon as it was available (preordered!) and as soon as I have the $$$. I've been playing DOM3 for three years, and bought it from Sharpnel as well as rebuying it from Deaura. You could say I'm a fan...
Oh. My. Pretender. I am stunned to hear of this news. I will be buying (next month, preordering)
Here's my command line output:
./clonk --sync
[22:36:23] Using XRandR version 1.4
[22:36:23] Command line: ./clonk
[22:36:24] OpenClonk Beyond the Rocks Delta
[22:36:24] Version: 5.3.3 [025] Delta linux-x86 (b78664b43cae)
The program 'clonk' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadRROutput (invalid Output parameter)'.
(Details: serial 521 error_code 147 request_code 140 minor_code 9)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
I'm running Xubuntu13.04 on an Acer C7 with Sandy Bridge graphics. Other games run surprisingly well.
Just click on "Random" when that screen comes up, and you'll be able to select all the races for that era.
Well, I *did* buy DOM3 again, from Desura, and it was to support Desura as well as to support Illwinter. Yeah, I could have bought a relative the game, but my nephew, my only game-playing relative, is a DOTA2 fan...
Yeah, but you do get the manual from GOG; I've even suggested Linux players of 7kaa to buy the GOG version just for the manual, which can really improve understanding of this surprisingly complex game.
In fact, a number of mods adding Warhammer nations and units have been published. It is the DEEPEST stretegy game that can be found.
I bought the disc version 2 years ago and am strongly considering buying it again on Desura for the updates, which I *assume* are still coming. Besides, I have already gotten way more than $60 of gameplay from what is the best strategy game I have ever played.
When Dominions 3 is available on Desura, will Shrapnel customers be able to install using their keycodes? If not, will be be able to update through Desura? What will happen to the Shrapnel DOM3 forums?
Enquiring people want to know...
It's exciting news that Dominions 3 will soon be available on Desura. The question I have is, as a Shrapnel purchaser, will I be able to get the 3.28 update from Desura? Will I be able to reinstall from Desura using my key code?
This is my #1 favorite game; I like COE3, but DOM3 is the be-all and end-all of strategy gaming.
I remember this fondly from the old XP days. It's a game in which you have little direct control on the good guys, except to place a bounty on baddies. A lot of building and upgrading, and a lot of fun. On my wishlist, certainly.
I tried the demo and it ran on my 64-bit Ubuntu (using MATE) just fine. I bought it immediately. It appears that more, uh, GAME is in this, unlike Populous. Yes, terraforming is a little sketchy still (but I notice I canna terraform the enemy's land, which is As It Should Be), but I am impressed with this newest example of the New Age of Low-End Graphics (pioneered with the Pretender-like Dominions 3) filled chock-full of Gaming Goodness.
Glad I bought it on Desura for the timely updates, too.
This looks like POPULOUS, only not with the same basic scenario over and over. I'm buying!
I was a fan of this back when Windows 98 was new; no other RTS game featured what this baby has, and none (with the exception of Seven Kingdoms II) has ever tried what this game does. It's a complete winner, even with its rough edges.
Yes, just as in Dominions 3, you right-click on a unit to see the text box.
Ooh, it's better-looking that Dominions 3, has terrific music, and is just as much fun to play as Dominions 3, with just as much replay value. GET IT!
Preordered and it's 12 days away!
Now I'm waiting for Conquest of Elysium 3. I preordered it and it comes on the 20th.
This will be the best turn-based strategy game since...Dominions 3?
Been playing Dominions 3 over just about everything else...
