Yo! Thanks, I'm glad to still be around developing, haha. Hope to make something cool soon.

The Singletexture mode has been removed in favor of just Multitexture and GLSL, yes. If you want to keep up on development, the blenderartists forums are the best way to do so.

Sorry about that, man! Follow my game development progress (On Twitter or YouTube for now), though - I have something I'm working on that should be a lot of fun nonetheless!

I did end up working on the story and coming up with something that I think is pretty solid overall. It's a shame, but I think the game will ultimately be better for it eventually.

That's true, and that's my feeling on it. It just wasn't turning out the way I wanted it to, and I have an idea for what I'd like to do with it that I'm pretty sure will be really fun once I finish it. Thanks for watching!

That might be a good idea to allow people to at least play it and get the sense of it. I do plan to return to this eventually, but I believe it will be different when I do.

Yep, I'm getting back into working on this more frequently. I've done some planning, which was really necessary to help get some traction on progress. Hopefully I'll be able to ramp up the pace of development considerably. Thanks for watching!

No, I appreciate constructive criticism. Thank you very much for the feedback - I'll see about slowing down the speed that the game progresses a bit.

Hey, I never saw this until now, but I would rather you didn't use my sprites without my permission. Please don't assume I would be okay with it - just contact me via e-mail if you want to ask about something like this.

Super late to this, but there's a chromatic aberration filter and a bloom filter running. The white line is just a texture that gets UV-scrolled, if I recall correctly.

Well, I do it with Python. The dialogs and "!" are both 2D sprites, of a sort. I'm using a GUI module named BGUI to handle the drawing of the icons and text.

And thanks!

Hello. Like the updates - here's some more feedback.

1) Using the right mouse button to target works alright, but the bow seems to miss a lot when auto-targeting.

2) The game spawned quite a few treasure chests near me (like around 7 or so within 10 steps). You might want to code in a something to ensure chests spawn a minimum of "x" distance away from each other.

3) The graphics options for Lighting and SSAO still don't enable or disable the effect. Do I need to restart the game for them to take effect, or is it just that the options aren't hooked up yet?

4) The game crashed while I was attacking a slime (left-clicking seemed to crash it).

I'm running the most recent updated version of Vox, probably the 32-bit version (and not the 64-bit version).

About those crashes, I think they might be memory related, as I got one now on loading up an infinite world (I've never had a crash on starting a world before). Hope it helps!

Cool.

I notice some crashes - one happened when I defeated a monster with a bow and arrow (I think?), and the other when I was switching weapon, if I recall correctly.

Some more feedback:

- It'd be nice if making a melee weapon larger actually made it have larger reach. If it's a balance issue, you could force the player to collect voxels to customize their items with, and even different voxels to do different things (i.e. one that imparts fire or ice attributes).

- Health seems somewhat hard to come by in the game. If the only way of getting health is by hearts, perhaps monsters need to drop hearts more often, or more of it each time (i.e. +30 HP rather than +10), or even both.

Good to hear some harder difficulty will be in there.

Here are my thoughts so far:

There seems to be some bugs with the character creation / slots. I somehow overwrote the first warrior with my own character, even though I created a brand new character. Also, sometimes the character selected will differ from the character you selected previously. For example, I edited my character, but when I entered the game with him, he reverted to the previous model. There was something similar happening with the character's individual parts (i.e. the character choice screen displayed my character correctly, but on going to edit his individual parts, they reverted to previous pre-made character part choices).

Also, I edited an item (the sword) and saved it under a name, but I can't reload it under that name, even though I saved it in the same world that I was playing at the time (not sure if that matters).

The check boxes could be more obvious than just 'red for on, blue for off'.

I think the SSAO checkbox under the options menu might be broken (doesn't seem to enable or disable SSAO). The world seems to be 'dark' with SSAO, I'd suppose, whether you enable it or not.

What's the point of the Occlusion option on the Options menu?

I like the targeting mode. Feels a lot like Zelda, though it makes shooting arrows a breeze (maybe too easy)?

As a side-note, where are the item / save / etc. files stored?

The game overall isn't bad so far, and could be cool in the future, though. Keep up development!

SolarLune - - 187 comments @ Valchion Demo V0.2 is Out for Windows, Mac, and Linux!

I think I know what the problem is related to, but if I recall, it worked fine on my Linux computer. So, I'm a bit stumped. Could you try downloading and replacing the "launcher.cfg" file in the game directory with this file?

Box.com

If it doesn't work, then I'll have to assume it has something to do with your graphics card. If so, then could you try it on a more powerful / modern card, or just another computer in general?

Yo! I've played the game, and it's pretty fun. I was wondering, are you sure that you want to Kick-Start the game? If you're already comfortable releasing builds of the game progressively, maybe you could just alpha-release it, a la MineCraft? I'm pretty sure a lot of people would pay for the game in its current state, with steady updates spread over the coming months. Anyway, something that you've probably thought about.

Yep, it's a computer chip. Either it'll be important to the story, or it just represents technology (the robots that you're fighting / dodging in-game). And thanks!

He's actually a completely normal civilian. He finds all of the items he uses through the game (i.e. he's not prepared to fight).

Nah, it doesn't currently show "RELOAD" when you're out of ammo, though that would be a good idea, I think. It does make a different sound if you try to shoot without ammo, though.
