I started to work with CryEngine Sandbox twelve years ago. (damn, already 13 years?) I also work with Game Maker and I'm learning with Unreal Engine 4.
Currently, I'm taking a pause from LKSD. To finish it, I need few longers whiles. I have only many short moments now, so I'm making a preparation for a new project I'm planning to start later. Looks like I've finally managed to effectively create a 3d terrain.
it looks very impressive, is it made by hand? in which tool ?
I'm still learning with 3d in Game Maker. So far, I didn't know how to make a terrain.
Finally came up with an idea how to turn heightmap into this. I'm also glad it doesn't consume much FPS. It's 128*128*2 triangles and the FPS is almost same as the empty map would have.
128x128 sounds very small ?
where did you get this nice hightmap from ?
and is then the terrain texture also from same source ?
Yes, the terrain wouldn't be more than 200x200 meters in the game. It's for test purposes only.
