The company's products are used in product design, medical and dental modeling, digital content creation, fine arts applications, surgical simulation and stroke rehabilitation, dental restorations, and research and robotic applications. It offers its products through inside sales channels and resellers.

The company was founded as SensAble Devices, Inc. in 1993 and changed its name to SensAble Technologies, Inc. in 1996. SensAble Technologies, Inc. is based in Woburn, Massachusetts with a sales office in Tokyo, Japan.
