A novel platformer that pits Cid, a humble jumping spider of the Phiddipus audax species, against a laboratory full of genetically and cybernetically enhanced bugs. Armed with your hydraulic legs, your silk dragline, and your trusty venomous fangs, you must jump, swing, and eat your way past your own arachnid brethren and other multi-legged monstrosities, all courtesy of Araknotek, Inc. The game will feature tight physics and an incredibly intuitive, minimalistic control scheme optimized for touchscreen devices (and mouse, if that's your thing).
Jumping Spider is a 2D platformer that promises to redefine the genre with unique, addictive mechanics. The Kickstarter campaign, recently launched, is raising funds to help bring the game to PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices.
Cid was just an ordinary jumping spider with nothing more ambitious on his mind than catching his next meal, when a fly-related incident landed him in the heart of Araknotek, Inc.'s cybergenetics lab. Now, injected with a mysterious evoserum that increases his intelligence and abilities, he must escape, and the only way out is through the arthropod habits. This maze of artificial environments is teeming with dangerous bugs from around the world, some of them genetically altered or cybernetically enhanced. This is not going to be your typical bug hunt.
Hyperintuitive touch/mouse controls and wild, silk swinging physics provide a unique, addictive experience for the game. A playable demo is available.
You can keep up with Jumping Spider's development on Facebook, Twitter, and the official Jumping Spider website. Creator Eric Newland will also be showcasing Jumping Spider at the Ohio Game Developer Expo on December 7th.
Jumping spider, a novel platformer for desktop and mobile, is trying its hand (or I should say, at least four of its legs) at crowdfunding.
A new downloadable demo is now available in two formats in preparation for my Kickstarter campaign starting this week!
