Happy 20th anniversary everyone.
Happy 20th anniversary everyone.
*Prays they will one day open source this engine along with an SDK*
Hi, we no longer use the launcher at this time (maybe at a future date), for now just download the binaries, assets, and maps seperately. You can find those here on the files section or you can go to www.jkgalaxies.net/download.html to get the latest release.
The OSX build is now available!
Note: A minor fix has been corrected on file and the correct version has been uploaded (previously was v1.3.22 NOT v1.3.22a).
Sounds like you might not have it installed quite right. Have you checked the instructions on the download page to make sure you followed that right? (See the tutorial video here: Youtube.com ). If you're still having trouble join the Discord and post a screenshot of what you're seeing in the helpdesk channel.
Knock yourself out: Jkhub.org
There's this one: Jkhub.org , but you also probably want to look into rend2, which is still being developed by some of the openjk guys, df2, and warzone mod as a community effort. See: Jkhub.org
Note: OSX builds have been delayed slightly, but should be out soon.
It is still worked on, we just unfortunately don't update the ModDB page very often. If you want more immediate updates visit the website: www.jkgalaxies.net
Not if you install it properly. It should be installed in its own jkgalaxies directory inside of GameData so it shouldn't interfere with anything else.
Hey Jake! Long time no see! Yeah progress is slow, but we find it fun to work on so here we are :D
It will be quite a while before we're ready to even start working on Phase 3. We're currently still working on things from Phase 1, like new items and mechanics, and getting ready to start tackling the saber system. Please don't feel like you need to wait till Phase 3 to try out the game, its pretty fun so far, even if we're only in Phase 1.
Just an update, we're still working on 1.3.20 and have only a few things left to complete (unfortunately our testing found some bugs)!
v1.3.20 is almost ready for release, we'll be posting a news article and download links once we've finished testing it.
Hi there. Where did you get the install files from? You should be getting the latest version from here( Jkhub.org ). Also if your files aren't show extensions you've probably disabled that in Windows. You can enable it this way: I.imgur.com (regardless of whether the extension is show you should still be able to click on the batch file and it will run).
I've also updated the steam install tutorial video for the current version of the game (1.3.18), so feel free to watch that (check the tutorials section of moddb for the video).
Hello MODDB, we'll make a proper announcement when the next version (1.3.18) is ready for testing, you can get the preview version here: Jkhub.org let us know if you have any problems, looking forward to seeing you in game.
The easiest way to get JKG's latest version is to grab this version here: Jkhub.org We're still in the processing of finishing up v1.3 for a stable release on ModDB, but you can get the preview build there. (It comes with the serverside).
You can get the latest version here: Jkhub.org we haven't released a stable version on ModDB for a while, v1.3 is still being worked on, but the preview version is probably the easiest to get.
I do, but it would probably be best to put something like that here: Jkhub.org that way the other devs will see it too. Otherwise just send me a PM. I'm also much more frequently on our discord.
Just a quick update, due to a linux server bug that has been alluding us, we're probably not going to be able to do an actual release by January. We're still trying to find out what's causing it, once we've been able to patch the issue we'll be releasing 1.3. In the meantime you can get the current preview version on jkhub here: Jkhub.org
Hello ModDB, a 4th scrimmage match is happening. Join us to test the new version, sign up here: Jkhub.org
There's still people playing the scrimmage match now, jump on!
Hello everyone. A preview version of v1.30 is available here: Jkhub.org if you would like to try it out before the upcoming scrimmage match.
Hello everyone, it has been a while hasn't it? Well, I have good news. With more free time on our hands than normal, we've been busy getting a new version (v1.3) ready for next month. Most development work has been completed, and we're working on ironing out a few last features and some bugs. To help test out the new version we're holding a scrimmage match for everyone to try it out and help get your feedback. More information on the match and how you can sign up is available on the forums here: Jkhub.org
Also, I want to apologize that we just don't update the ModDB page enough, we'd like to, but with this being a hobby project and done in our spare time we need as much time as we can working on the actual project instead of updating every form of social media. That said, I'd like to remind everyone we regularly post frequently to the JKHUB Forums in the Jedi Knight Galaxies section and that is one of the best ways of learning more about the project and getting the latest news. We also have a Discord if you'd like to chat with us or meet other JKG fans: Discord.gg
PS I'm planning on updating the ModDB page soon with some news and fixing some layout problems, but this may not happen until v1.3.0 has been released. Thanks again for your interest!
Hi there, great questions which are answered on our FAQ here: Jkhub.org but I'll briefly reiterate the answers here.
1) Is it an mmo mod? Not yet, we have plans to eventually expand the project to have an MMO like scope(though not on a massive scale like SWTOR or World of Warcraft). The mod is being released in "phases", to help promote an iterative development life cycle and allow the team to produce something fun without overextending ourselves too much. Only about 3-4 of us regularly work on the project and only in our spare time, we simply don't have a team big enough, or resources available to make an MMO right now.
2)Big rpg mod? Yes, think of the project as a merger between Kotor's rpg elements (with dialogue choices, quests, etc) and a revamped new Jedi Academy-like combat system. That said, all of us love role playing games and we want that to be part of JKG. That said, there's still a lot of work to be done before we're really to that point and ready to release the majority of RPG features. Our main focus at the moment is engine stability and building the combat system.
3) Does it have anything to do with star wars galaxies? Yes and no. What I mean, is that the project originally started out as a desire to bring Star Wars Galaxies to the JKA engine. However, a lot changes over the course of several years of development and planning. While we certainly pay homage to Galaxies for a lot of our inspiration and design, it really doesn't have much to do with the original Star Wars Galaxies. So it really depends on your point of view :P
That said, if you'd like to try out the mod and find out what it is all about, we have an upcoming scrimmage match for the latest release coming up and you're welcome to join. You can sign up and get more details here: Jkhub.org
