After the photo retouching was completed I had some fun with it. It didn't take much time to complete, because pretty much everything was already done in the retouching process. I had the perfect material to work with and it only took me about 30-45 minutes to get to this result.
It really was just the fun after all the work (which was fun too though) and I really enjoyed the process of this. It's definitely one of my new favorite pieces.
When it was almost completed, I thought about creating a new concept for Mindworld with this, but I decided not to. Maybe it's going to be published for Mindworld in some kind of wallpaper stuff, but as it was more of a personal piece to enjoy for myself, I didn't want to connect it with anything else.
I love the image (and it looks like something from Mindworld indeed), but why is it called "Instinct"? Just curious, because I don't see anything instinct related. Of course art can be interpreted in many ways, so that's why I'm asking ;)
Being able to see gives our brain a lot of information to interpret/misinterpret and judge on. I often realize how different the world around me is when I'm closing my eyes for a while or even meditate within a crowd of people. It sharpens every other sense of your body and you get more confident in trusting your instincts again.
Our instinct tells us what way to go by judging information we get, but in these days of heavily influenced visual media around us, we get fooled all the time. Advertisement manipulates us, not only visually of course, but for most parts.
Once you understand the mechanics and principles of psychology and manipulation of people via advertisement strategies or NLP (neuro linguistic programing) techniques, you can trust your feelings again without being disappointed.
Long story short: To see through all those influences around us, we must close our eyes to exercise our instincts.
Ahh well put, makes sense. I haven't 'officially' studied the manipulation and advertising strategies so I don't know what NLP is (a quick google will probably tell me though), but I think I have developed a very good idea of how people can be manipulated psychological-wise and how for example marketeers are exploiting that. Of course advertisements are only an example of manipulation. Anyway, what I'm trying to say here is that I understand what you're saying and that after your explanation I have gained a much better understand of the title, thanks :)
You are wise beyond your years Q.
