Been watching and occasionally playing this mod for a long while now. It never stops being heartwarming, seeing/playing it. someone with dev ability/talent still cares about Mass Effect, even if Bioware/EA don't. <3
The original wiki is gone, but some good folks backed it up here Paradox-modfanmadebackup.fandom.com
A darn shame. Can't even get steam to recognize this. Miss playing it.
Wonder if the devs heard about that chinese mod that managed to fix the "engine refuses new factions" issue.
I'm about to overload my hype inhibitor.
It makes me smile how a lot of the marine dialog is lines from similar units in previous C&C games :3
Controllable pelicans? O.o All my yes.
I don't see the fauna. :O
Call me crazy but I still don't understand why people bag on the face animations. I played the game before all the patches and it looked fine to me. >.>
Song reminds me of that guitar bit in reach when you get ambushed by the zealots. Youtu.be
There's modded halo 2 save files you can get for original xbox that let you fight it, it's not all that interesting to fight sadly. It takes tons of ammo to kill, moves really slow, and can jumpstomp you like Super Mario. When it dies the feelers on the face vanish and it just stands still because it is very unfinished.
EDITED: my reply was superfluous in light of comments coming after the above post.
This>Halo Wars 2.
Anything beats "Babby's first RTS 2: we're making it more rush/steamroll-centric boogaloo", but I've been hype for this for a long time.
Reminds me a /lot/ of the protoss dragoon
GDI became UNSC, Scrin became covies (hence the drones), and Nod becomes ???
Just came by to pay my respects to a brilliant mod that was never to be. Followed since like late 2010 or so.
Let's not forget insurrectionist forces area possibility too. there's all manner of innie factions (they're not all one united group, a bit closer to a ton of different groups with a shared hatred of the Unified Earth Government and United Nations Space Command, with some groups being anarchist while others want independence, or to form a replacement government). "Insurrectionists" is the catch-all parlance used to refer to any group that actively opposes the UEG and UNSC. That grants the mod devs a lot of narrative freedom as to how well equipped these guys are, how they divide their forces (anti-armor vs rifle squads, or if they combine the two, if they have anti-spartan units (like that one group in the books that used a magnetized plate jury-rigged into a weapon operated by like 3 guys to stun a spartan))
The covenant don't really field many air craft that aren't meant to support ground troops. In the4 Halo mythos, for the most part, air-to-air combat and most naval activity are a space thing. The covenant's in-atmosphere stuff mostly consists of bombers and support craft, with the exception of the banshee which is kind of a multipurpose aerial workhorse (and not all that tough for a hornet's missiles/emp airburst grenades from a falcon mounted with launchers instead of MGs to take out). Ground operations are still a thing because there are just some things you can't do from space. As far as has been shown, the only reason the UNSC has aircraft carriers at all on planets is to have a mobile airbase for things like F-99 Wombats (Which are UCAVs mainly used for recon, and the occasional bit of ground support, as well as providing an "eye in the sky" to any UNSC ground units), Pelicans, "Owls" (which there is little information on besides them being a smaller, "black ops" sort of variant of pelican) and so forth.
Although, there's always the F-41 Broadsword, which is a multipurpose Atmospheric/exo-atmospheric strike fighter designed to keep up with faster covenant craft.
Lore-wise, the the Hornet is able to fight off aircraft with missiles, but, as far as I'm aware, the bulk of the UNSC's AA is surface based, e.g. the M8 Wolverine, the M12R (missle hog) Warthog, M510 Mammoth, and the M808B2 Sun Devil (a scorpion tank with the main gun swapped out for AA Autocannons)
They might be doing like the Halo total conversion for Sins (Sins of the Prophets) and doing away with subfactions. SotP just has you choose UNSC, Covenant, and (in the future, it's not released yet) Forerunner Remnants
Seeing progress on this mod always fills me with hope, makes me smile. :D
MS shut down Halogen because of Halo Wars being on the horizon. It's possible that MS won't do it because of the potential backlash, especially after Halo Wars wasn't too well received in the strategy community. It helps that "Halo" is not in the mod's name, and also that the devs here are pretty keen on keeping up with MS' ever-changing Terms of Use.
Well, as long as they stay in compliance with MS' content usage rules (Which they've been good at staying on top of so far) it oughta' be fine.
huh, it's back. When I posted that, the link lead to a page reading "This domain is available for sale"
On a sad and worrying note, the dev team's website ( 363-productions.net as listed on their facebook page) is a dead link.
God I hope not. I am too hype and we've all been waiting so long. This mod is way too awesome and beautiful to deserve death. If the devs do abandon it, I would hope they'd at least release their work and documentation for someone else to pick up.
I like. I seem to recall the paragon and renegade symbols being in there at one point though. Miss them.
Am I the only one who notices the pros are suggestive of this mod's dev team? I ain't even mad. If "Jimmy McGill" didn't tip you off, the grammar and awkward sente4nce structure should have. Not ripping on the text's writer, just pointing something out. MS is a multinational corporation, it stands to reason they'd have people in this sort of outreach position who fluently speak, write, and read a variety languages, especially that most commonly used in their home nation. Keep up the beautiful work though 363, we all love you. <3
Consider though that the materials are coming from numerous planets, asteroids, moons, and recycled from older ships. It kinda balances its self out.
