Yes I had 32libs installed, thanks for the reply though, however clivecrous gave the following fix that helped me .
Please try the following:
* delete the entire lib2 folder
* delete everything except the "openal" libraries from the lib folder
* create, in your home directory, a file named '.openalrc' with the following content:
# Contains user settings for OpenAL
# Goes in ~/.openalrc
# Use ALSA (also valid: sdl, native)
(define devices '(alsa)')
# Four speaker surround with ALSA
(define speaker-num 2)
(define alsa-out-device "hw:0,0")
(define alsa-in-device "hw:0,0")
