Are there plans to introduce true world portal mechanics from Portal 2 (linked_portal_door)?
Are there plans to introduce true world portal mechanics from Portal 2 (linked_portal_door)?
Damn, this looks incredible. Every time I think I've seen the best of Source modding, some bucko appears out of nowhere to prove me wrong.
You mean programming language? C#
I sometimes can't believe that this is on Source engine. Really a spectacular amount of detail. Optimization probably is a bitch with these maps :P
Teleport experiment goes wrong, which kills the nearby staff, alien invasion of invaders with offensive capabilities, black ops armies, who come in to swipe the place, alien zombies, crazy turrets, failed laser weaponry, creepy dude in a suit, MIT graduate running around the facility with hazard suit and crowbar and now a batshit crazy surgery bot. Whatever bad can happen in Black Mesa, certainly happens.
Holy ****! I knew the mod wasn't abandoned, but I wasn't expecting any updates soon. This is awesome in every way
Judging by the anatomical structure, he seriously doesn't seem that threating. I think it might work if he uses surroundings to his advantage, for example, building traps and sneaking behind.
Actually, using shadows, atmosphere and sounds without actually showing him would make a much more mysterious and suspensful situation.
This is a problem, which also is common in my work. I can't atand those rock textures, because I can't find any decent transition for them, though I should analyse ep2 maps a bit more :/
Anyway, good mapping, but Morgan is right, you should polish those mountains a bit more ;)
Though amnesia style story has been done to death in clostraphobic environments it might work. Most important thing here is not weaponry, new models or textures (although they might have certain effect) but the atmosphere.
Hopefully, the story will play a big role here, if so, try feed player slowly with information about the world you created. It might be something like "Point of View" were every thought and update is expressed through text. Hell, maybe you even can pull this off by borrowing some ideas from games like "Stanley's parable" or "Dear Esther" or "Minerva: Metastasis".
"Stanley's parable" might be the finest example of basic mapping but an amazing idea behind it. Look those up for inspiration, might help you out a little.
By the way I really recommend you start using "light_spot" entities which will drastically improve map's lighting quality.
Good luck.
As it was written in the interview, the devs behind the mod are fixing their mistakes and polishing levels, so it definielly will be worth the wait, I think.
Hopefully, other modders will follow your footsteps and continue your work. I say, even accomplishing this task, no matter how simple it seems to others, that would be a great milestone for the cooperation of modders community.
These commentaries are hilarious.
So, what creatures are these? Humanoid alien race or modified humans?
Man, what a badass... Would be good concept for easter eggs :D
Though the leg structure fits this entity, but breasts, in my opinion, aren't that neccessary, it takes away that impression of alien appearance, it just shows a huge resemblance to our species. Fun fact: human females are the only ones in mammal species that has fully formed breasts. Other mammal females have fully formed breasts only when raising an offspring.
The best way to reveal gender would be a simple commentary on certain situations
Great design choices. Reminds me bit of Helghast though
Well, that's a huge financial risk VALVe is taking.
They could play with words here. For example "Object: Black". I know it's damn cheesy, very cheesy indeed, but "Black body" has a scientific background. Here's a description:
"A black body is an idealized physical body that absorbs all incident electromagnetic radiation, regardless of frequency or angle of incidence."
And here you have it - an awkwardly sounding title with scientific basis
Great mapping, but telling a story could be... uhmm... tricky...
So far so good for very early WIP content. Few bro tips:
1. I recomend you to change "Singleplayer" to just "New game", because I assume this doesn't include a multiplayer.
2. I hope you'll add a decent level of detail. By the way, I recommend you to play with color correction to capture a right atmosphere.
I can't believe this was achieved with Source engine. I guess it has been heavily updated
Great demo of the mod, bit buggy though, but non the less, great
Do not forget that it is completely fictional plot, a parallel universe, but you got your point. The story still is going through reconsiderations, so hang in there.
The story will revolve around idea of epilogues of conflicts and their uncertainties. It's more about those, who wants power at all costs, and those who fears the progress.
It seems we have a great and polished mod coming. Fenomenal lighting. Good stuff. Looking forward to what you've got in store for us :D
