Genetica and 3 week progress.

squareteck Blog

Hey guys, I am just going to post a blog to try and get some of your input, gain a little traction, and involve the community on a project I have been working on.
The game is called Genetica let me know if you hate the name.

The game has been a passion project for me for the last month or so, I am finishing up my final month in school and thought that releasing a game, any game on steam greenlight would a, look better on a resume. b, maybe get a little bit of money coming in for myself. If anyone has advice in either of these fields please let me know!.
In the begining of development I started to develop the game by using shaders I made in unity but it was lacking something.

Continuing on refining the way the game looked I started to look at more advanced shaders. This is where I discovered DX11, it looks amazing for these conditions I needed. Last week I decided to push a more realistic look, but it's extremely expensive on a machine.
This is the current look of Genetica.

GamePlay:

Say you want to start infecting bodies of water, you would need to first find a cell that has evolved it’s own traits to survive with a hydrophobic cell wall, once acquired you then attach it to your own protein sequence ‘DNA’ and hope for the best.

Depending on what part of your sequence you attach it to could evolve your cell for better or worse, making every decision permanent and provoking.

I attached the hydrophobic module to the end of a Cell wall sequence giving a helpful boost to the cells wall defense, in this case I was lucky.

There are many visual parameters a cell can go through but that is not the entire story behind this game, the main game play element is the users ability to attach themselves to a evolving system and watch something being created and surviving just as any organism in the real world would have to.

Please feel free to give me some criticism or anything you think would enhance this game. Let me know if you like the idea or game any input helps, see you soon!
