remix is android with Windows UI style. android doesn't allow apps set mouse position, so no mouse look. if you have keyboard and mouse, just play original halflife(by Valve) or Xash3d (by Uncle Mike)
i tested player move buttons, they work. but view panning (_look) still too difficult.
after days of practice, i still can't play a game well in xash3d-android, view panning is so difficult!
have a look at this video. it demonstrates view panning control by rotating the screen, but this one has compass+Gsensor, not just Gsensor. without compass, the screen must be close to horizontal, so only works when player lies on bed.

i have an idea for game controller:
1) use android G-sensor for view panning, suitable for playing game while lying on bed.
2) 4 arrow buttons for player movement like on keyboard, not dragging the touch point.
i think these will make control much easier, and playing android game on bed is acceptable.
what do you think?
on my PC, xash can adjust moniter brightness when launching and exiting. are you sure xash exits normally without any error? the solution may be to adjust the gammar lower, so that your monitor brightness remains nearly unchanged :D
this engine looks much better than goldSrc. i would like to know:
1) how to enable specular effect(not chrome) with xashXT - the document says specular is supported.
2) hammer limits map dimension to 4096, how to make 32768 sized maps?
3) the v062.fgd file that comes with xashXT 0.65 doesn't work in my hammer3.4 - error parsing, what's wrong?
4) is there any forum of Xash3D engine?
